I finally have the chance to write a review about the fantastic jungle experience!

I went on the 6 days trek last April. In my group there were other 3 girls. We had the best time all together sharing this incredible experience!

Before I left I asked info about the meals and I got reassured about the crew being able to prepare vegan food. Well, I can reassure all vegans out there that they are in for the meals of their lives! All guys in the crew were incredible chefs and made the most delicious food, with amazing presentation!

All crew members were very skilled and they were perfectly at ease in the jungle: it made us feel relaxed and definitely in safe hands!

We saw animals and enjoyed the beauty of the jungle!

Thank you to Selamet and to all other crew members that made us feel incredible through out this awesome time!

Thank Alessandra R

Mum & I had an amazing trip thanks to Expedition Jungle. We were very lucky to see 11 orangutans on our 1 day trek!! We met another tourist who had done 4 days in the jungle and seen 4 orangutans. We started planning our trip from October last year with Clare via email.
We arrived at Medan airport with our guide Adi at the gate waiting for us. The trip to Bukit Lawang took a good 2 hours, don’t watch the driving! It’s crazy! We arrived after lunch on a Sunday. Sunday is a very busy day in Bukit as most of Medan travel there to relax & go swimming. It was quite overwhelming. It’s about a 15 minute walk from the street to Sams Bungalows. The bungalow was very clean but basic, no hot water. We spent the Sunday afternoon shopping at the markets in Bukit. We had dinner & breakfast at Sams.
Monday morning was our jungle trek day we left at around 8am. We left most of our belongings at the bungalow & only took the minimum in our backpacks. Our group was mum, myself and another lady plus Adi & another guide. Once in the jungle most groups we saw were only 2 people + guide. We took the raft over to the other side of the river to the jungle & made our way up to the viewing platform where other groups were waiting to see the orangutans arrive. We spent around 30 minutes waiting for the orangutans to arrive (guides bang rocks & call out) but none came which was a little disappointing as we thought that would be the start of a disappointing day. Adi got a call on his mobile phone to say orangutans had been spotted further up so our group raced up & down the mountains to get there & were not disappointed to see 3 mums with 4 babies in the trees pretty close distance to where we were standing. One of the mums can in very close to us. We continued walking & found another large male hanging in the trees who came down the tree to check us out. We stopped for lunch & were taking a break when the trees in front of us started moving & another large male came over the mountain at us & stole our lunch. We continued on after lunch making our way down to the river/camp area, as we were approaching the camp we came across another group who had been ambushed by Jackie & her baby. Jackie had hold of the lady in the group & wouldn’t let go until she had been fed enough. This was amazing as she was happy for us to get very close to her & her baby. It was very very humid & the trekking was up & down mountains all day at quite high altitude. It was hard & we consider ourselves fit. Adi said a lot of people don’t make the day as it is difficult & they have to turn back. So be prepared for a very hard day it takes it out of you!
We eventually reached the camp which was very basic, basically a black tarp underneath & above with very thin mats sleeping on rocks. We opted for a vegetarian dinner which was very nice & cooked by the guides. Our evening at the camp was very boring & went slowly. The night was very rough & we were glad to see daylight in the morning. We had breakfast & got on the rafts back to Sams. We cleaned up & headed to Tangkahan.
The drive to Tangkahan is a gravel road most of the 2 hour trip so it is quite bumpy. Once you get to Tangkahan it’s around a 15 minute walk over to the lodge which includes crossing a wobbly pedestrian bridge. We stayed at the Jungle Lodge which was also very basic with no hot water. The fridge in the restaurant wasn’t working so the beers were hot & the meals took a long time to come out. There was also a guy living/working there that wanted to come into your room & sit with you. If you are travelling by yourself be wary of him.
Wednesday morning we walked to the Elephant camp which was about 30 minutes away. Our group of 3 & another man were the only people there that morning so we got all the elephants to ourselves. We helped wash them which was an amazing experience. After washing them we had an elephant ride back to the Jungle Lodge. Once back at the Jungle Lodge it was time to head back to Medan.
The trip back to Medan took close to 5 hours as it was a weekday afternoon with lots of traffic jams. We were told it would take 2 so be prepared to be a bit later. We were staying in Medan so weren’t worried about missing flights.
We covered ourselves in Bushmans DEET spray & cream and also soaked our clothes in permethrin which we got from BCF. We didn’t get bitten once & in Australia I get attacked all the time, other people on the trek were getting bitten so make sure you are covered!
We loved our trip & had an amazing time thanks to Adi & Clare.
The price of the trip was very reasonable compared to Australian trips. If your reading this you should book it before the jungle is destroyed to plant palm oil!!

I was travelling with my partner on the incredible five day tour with Expedition jungle and would thoroughly recommend it. It was such an incredible experience, one that we shall never forget.

The guides were really friendly, experienced and very informative. We saw loads of wildlife, including monkeys, orangutans, reptiles, birds, fish and even an elephant!

The company itself was really professional and helpful and they responded to all our booking queries quickly and thoroughly.
.
Thank you for an amazing experience!

Excellent, excellent, excellent,
We had the best holiday ever. Trek was very physically demanding but we'll worth the effort, advice is to pack lightly..........
The guides were very experienced and extremely informative. Made good mates with all guides, they were top people/mates. The meals that they made from jungle, plants, flowers etc, we're better than restaurant quality. We were lucky enough to see many wild animals close up in their natural habitat, several monkeys, many orangutans, reptiles, birds, fish etc.
The whole journey was perfect from booking, right through to the end.
Thank you Expedition Jungle for a great time.
Would recommend to everybody for a once in a lifetime experience.

One of the most captivating thrilling adventures you could ever wish to stumble upon, in a setting fit for photographic heaven. My friends and I spent two days trekking (Including an overnight camp), our guide treated us to some amazing food but only after the intense experience of navigating the jungle. The guide realized he was dealing with four young men so he made us take a route that was way more challenging and dangerous, but that just added to the fun. From the secluded waterfalls where we leaped from 4-5 meter down into the river, to the hilltops where we got amazing panoramic views of the jungle, to our various encounters with Orangutans in their natural habitat this was one of the most amazing experiences I've had period.
