Jungle Inn has pretty awesome VIP suites, despite the stairs to get there. Once you get your gear to the hotel, which is a small trek, but luckily one can get porters quite cheaply 20000 per porter, one really can enjoy the atmosphere on the river with spectacular views of the river and jungle. Rooms are basic but spacious and AC is not needed (hence not there). Surprisingly very few mosquitoes. Staff are pretty friendly. Played chess with them and they are helpful with good knowledge of the area. Spontaneous singing and guitar playing is a regular part of the Jungle Inn, which is quite cool. Food ok. Lots of good restaurants nearby, best is Green Hill. Very close to the Orangutang feeding platform and for rafting. Watch out for the invading monkeys! Staff nice with kids

Room Tip: The Honeymoon rooms are pretty awesome and private with fabulous views from the verandah. Monkeys m...

I highly recommend the room at jungle inn to stay, not far from the office of Gunung Leuser National Park to the orangutan feeding. walk along the river about 20 minutes up the river. honey moon room and jungle river view the best room for me.

What a surprise this place was for us. We had expected something basic, but is was first class. Really beautifull rooms, great bathrooms and lovely welcoming staff! Yeah well, if there's a powercut you don't have warm water, but hey you are in the JUNGLE ......be happy these kind of places are available!! After sleeping in basic accomodation with just a mandi, this was five star luxery for us. View on waterfall and jungle. Five steps away from the crossing into the real jungle.
There is a little walk from the beginning of the ' village' to the inn, but with a backpack very do-able. Food in the restaurant is good and very affordable. Just don't be in a hurry if you want to eat.... :) service can be a bit slow. But didn't bother us at all.

Room Tip: They are all beautifull, don't worry

We stayed here for two nights as part of our trip arranged through Expedition Jungle and we were not disappointed. We asked Clare to arrange the honeymoon suite and that is exactly what we got - a huge big suite, which was uniquely designed and extremely clean. We had a waterfall running just outside our room, which added to the "jungle" effect.

We ate and spent both evenings in the bar/restaurant and the food was of a really good quality at a very good price. The staff and locals were very friendly, chatting away and sharing their stories of life in the jungle.

If you pick this hotel you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Honeymoon Suite number 1 - great room!

Jungle Inn's staff is absolutely amazing! So friendly and always in a good mood.

We stayed two nights here. We picked the cheapest room (100.000Rp) and it was fine. You can not realy expect luxury for that price. It had a cold shower, a indonesian toilet, a musquitonet and a small balcony. But they have more rooms, for higher prices with more luxury, it is up to you what you want. The rooms that we have seen were very nice by the way.

The location is a little bit far from the big bridge (15-20 minutes walk, to were cars can drive), but it gives a great view of the river and the jungle. The restaurant is very good. And as i wrote before, the staff is great! On our last night we made music with them. First just two, later we were with a big group. And the next morning we left early to go to Lake Toba and they made a nice lunch (pancakes, fruit, sandwich) for us on request for our long trip.

Big choice of rooms (and building new ones at the moment!) for many budgets, nice location and great staff!

Stayed at the Jungle Inn in July 2012 in the 'honeymoon room.' Bear in mind that the Jungle Inn is likely the nicest lodging in Bukit Lawang, but that it doesn't have the creature comforts many western travelers might be used to (no daily maid service, no a/c, v. limited hot water in the shower). The property was a 15min walk from nearest road, and very colorful exterior. Rooms were fun, and staff generally friendly.

JUNGLE INN DOES NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS, and the drive to the nearest ATM machine to take out cash is as long as 2 hours.

Room Tip: Don't go with the honeymoon suite...it's just an oversized normal room.
