Farosunds Hotell is more like a motel than a hotel. It looks new and rapidly built. There is no reception, though the host and hostess are present in the morning and later in the day for a couple of hours. They fix the simple buffet breakfast and clean the rooms every day. Both are helpful in giving advice and tips. The breakfast room contains a number of books on Gotland and a few novels. The rooms are large and relatively clean but not spotless. You can boil water in the room and there is a small TV; no radio. The bed springs were a little squeaky. However, we slept soundly because this is a very quiet and peaceful location.
There isn't much to do or see in Farosund itself. Very few places to eat. We greatly enjoyed biking and driving around the island of Faro. The ferry to Faro is just a couple of hundred meters from the hotel. We also visited the interesting Bunge outdoor museum, which is a 25-minute walk away. Buses run every hour or less frequently, so if you don't have a car, it might be a good idea to rent one. This is easy and inexpensive to do.
The hotel suits people who want a simple, quiet place to stay in the countryside.
