My wife and I had a late lunch on June 9th.

The menu is interesting, but pricy.

We started with a cream of tomato soup with pesto which was served piping hot and was delicious.

We then shared two appetizers (lobster and cheese dip and a fig, blue cheese and honey flatbread) and both were quite good.

We enjoyed it wxcept for the very slow service.

Thank you for your review and I am so glad you enjoyed both the soup and the appetizers. I discussed your review with our server who was, frankly, shocked that you found the service slow. She remembers you well, you had a discussion about the soup and how when you make tomato soup you use pancetta. She remembers that she went back to get a second bowl for your table.

As you can see from our responses to earlier reviews our food is all made fresh, in house and to order. Nothing is pre-made. We do not own a microwave. We are not "fast food" in fact we feel strongly that food should be made properly with care rather than quickly.

We hope you can join us at Cork again when you are not in a hurry and can enjoy our ambiance and our personalized service.

waited more than an hour for some very average food. I will never be back. Ambience ok but despite a nearly empty restaurant and an abundance of wait staff we received no utensils until we asked for them and waited more than an hour for our meals. The creative menu was not reflected in the presentation or quality of the meals.

We appreciate that you took the time to write a review of Cork, even though it is not a positive review. We do remember your table. You came in and seated yourself at a dirty table (beside the sign that asked you to wait to be seated). When we seat guests we seat them at clean, pre-set tables. The reason there was not cutlery on your table was we had cleared quickly so you would not have to sit with someone else's dirty dishes. You were told when you sat that we had just seated a large group, that the kitchen was backed up and that your meal would be at least 45 minutes. We suggested that you might want to go to one of the other great Elora restaurants, you did, however, choose to stay. Although the restaurant did not appear busy to you there were large tables inside and it had been a very busy lunch. The first time you asked where you food was we checked the computer and your order had not been in very long. When your food was served we did check the time (all our orders are timed) and it had been 45 minutes. Although we strive to have faster food times, when we know it is going to be slow and we warn you, I think you should not be surprised that it actually took the time we warned you of. I am sorry you felt that the wait was excessive. We never claim to be fast food. All of our food is made from scratch, in house, and nothing is pre-made.

We have been going to The Cork for a few years now when we come to Elora to visit. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, and the menu is perfect for a family with varied tastes and pretty high standards! Mothers Day brunch was amazing, but we were there after the rush so maybe we got better service. The kitchen can be slow on busy days, but at least you know its freshly made! I rate The Cork as one of Elora's best.

Thank you for the lovely review. We are glad that Cork feels like home to you, that is important to us. Mother's Day was a very busy day, we are happy that you found the timing excellent. As you mentioned in your review everything is made in house. We are not fast food, but we do not try to be. Quality food and excellent service are very important to us so everything is made in house and to order. We hope to see you soon.

After wondering around Elora and checking out the many dinning options we found Cork. It was a block or so up the main street but well worth it. There were many shops and galleries to browse in along the way. The service was excellent. They have a large wine selection and the food was delicious. We both had the half of club with the soup of the day which was butternut squash with rosemary and it was one of the best soups I've had in awhile. The club was made with fresh grilled turkey breast and generous portions of bacon, tomato and the rest all on a perfectly toasted Italian type loaf of bread. I would highly recommend dinning here anytime you are in Elora, we plan on going back for dinner soon

Thank you for your review!! We love it when people let us know we got it right. I am glad you found Cork and that you enjoyed our soup. All of our food is made fresh, in house, so our soup changes regularly and our Chefs are able to be creative and give us something interesting from the fresh, seasonal ingredients that are available. We are happy you are coming back for dinner, and we look forward to seeing you soon.
