“Nice place!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2013

My husband and I and 3 friends had 3 rooms at the Village Inn for New Year's Eve and we all were very happy with the hotel. The owner is a nice pleasant man, helpful, and chatty.

The two kings and one double rooms were all clean and tidy, everything worked as it should, the beds were comfy. They have small microwaves and fridges which are very handy. There was nothing to complain about at all. The hallways were clean, the rooms were quiet which is important to me. The shower worked well.

In the morning there was coffee, tea and muffins in the small lobby. Parking is free and lots of parking spots.

We all would stay there again if need be.

Room Tip: Get the king room, the beds are very nice.

I had a good stayed during the Home Hardware Fall Market show from Sept 21 to 23. Although the hotel is older, it was comfortable stay. There was free internet and a small continential breakfast each morning. The hotel is walking distance to Tim Horton's & subway, and the Casino for entertainment (although I did not get time to check it out). The hotel is 15 minutes from St Jacobs & Waterloo, and is the opposite way of traffic from the show was going...making it an easy & pleasant commute. I had a nice and quiet stay.

Spent one night in this "Inn" this past weekend with 2 other couples. Please do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else. All 3 bathrooms had holes in the ceiling leaving the plumbing and duct work exposed. Management said that they had a leak! Dust and debris were visible in the tubs. Now maybe it is just me, but one would think the rooms would be closed until the problem was rectified instead of charging full rate to unsuspecting customers! Unfortunately we were too late to find other accomodations and were stuck there for the night. When we inquired as to where to find ice as we were supplied ice buckets, we were told next door at the store! The linens were grey and dingy, and we slept on top of the sheets.......the place is disgusting!

We stayed here last weekend for a cricket game. The hotel was very clean, modern, and updated. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very comfy. The way the backdoor of the room opens up to the beautiful backyard and its picnic benches was convenient and gave a sense of relaxation. The location was ideal since there were many places to eat as well as a great tasting Chinese restaurant right next door. It was also just a short walk to the casino and race track. I couldn't find any faults with this place. We will definitely bring friends and family to stay here again. Shakar & Devi

We chose this motel because the reviews were generally positive. However, we entered the motel and smelled some strange smells and the air quality was questionable. This should have been our first clue. We checked the bedding and found blood and stains on the mattress protector. When we asked the manager for a clean mattress protector he said, "what do you expect?" and could only provide us with a fitted sheet. The sink was chipped, the paint was peeling in the bathroom, furniture repairs were done by electrical tape, and there were some type of droppings on the table's pullout shelf. The continental breakfast consisted of dry pastries and old fruit. Naturally, we left earlier than planned.

I stayed at the Village Inn, Elora, after an all-day hike on the Bruce Trail, and was pleasantly surprised.
The Village Inn is essentially an unpretentious two-storey motel. It has been owned by Umesh and Gita for the past seven years, and they obviously take good care of the property.
The room they gave me had a king-sized bed, and was immaculately clean. It had both a microwave and a refridgerator and, above all, a jacuzzi tub (a very welcome extra after a day on the trails!). The room was really quiet, both from the inside and the outside.
The Village Inn has a great location just outside of the downtown area. One can walk to the delightful dowtown area, where there are lots of restaurants and tourist shops, in less than five minutes. From there, one can follow the river to the Elora Gorge Conservation Area. The Grand River Raceway (with OLG slots, if that is what you are after!) is also a 5-min walk away.
This is a great place to stay if you are after a clean, comfortable, unpretentious motel right in the village of Elora. If you are after the "three or four star" expeience, however, you will be better off staying in one of the nearby cities!

Room Tip: I hadf Room 208, which was on the top (second) floor at the back of the motel. The top floor was ver...

The Village Inn hits all the major requirements. While it is not fancy, it is clean, quiet, and comfortable. It is well situated and accessible to all the major attractions in the area. The room is large with a comfortable bed. It is not fancy at all but it did exceed our expectations by a wide margin. It represents very good value for a good night's stay.
