Expect to see emus, kangaroos, wallabies and wombats without even leaving your car. Some great walking trails and beaches. We stayed in tidal river cabins and after dark there were wombats everywhere. Beware of the seagulls though and bring binoculars to see the amazing birdlife!

My husband and I spent two days in the park on a powered site. The park and beaches were amazing - the roads were disgusting - if you did not have an off road van these "tarred" roads were the worst in Australia! Potholes so large if you were going over 30kmh they would have thrown you off balance! The sites were "dust patches" no water to connect to and the amenities were the worst we have ever experienced travelling around the whole of Australia. The showers were disgusting - no soap on the washbasins and nothing to dry one's hands on. The prices in the shop were totally galling, almost triple in some cases for essentials. This is just a disgusting tourist trap for overseas visitors and someone should be held accountable ........soon! $49.50 for our site!

This National Park jewel is a must see on a visit to Victoria, especially for first time visitors wanting to experience native wildlife--loaded with Kangaroos, Emus, Wombats, Kookaburras, other beautiful birds. BUT, if that doesn't trip your switch, the Tidal River Basin offers spectacular views and beaches galore. Hundreds of hikes and walks, Climb Mt Oberon for an amazing view of the surrounding park and ocean, beaches. You won't be disappointed if you get to the top.
I stayed in the retreats, eco luxury tents, which were very nice and well equipped, including linens, beds and kitchen, but still tents, so all the outdoor noises and weather conditions could impact how well you rest at night. Nevertheless, a once in a lifetime experience for most. Campgrounds and cabins also available and country store with small grill is well equipped. One suggestion, bring an array of warm to cooler clothing as conditions change quickly.

Wilsons Promontory is too beautiful to just come for the day. If you are not into camping, get organised and book a cabin. Usually need to book 12 month in advance and pay in full as cabins are so popular and only 17 cabins available. (Ask of cancellations). Cabins sleep 6, 1 double bed room, 1 room with 2 bunks. Self contained, self catered so bring food/drinks and, although large outdoor decking, no outdoor furniture supplied so bring fold up chairs, small table, portable BBQ. No TV, no radio, no clock, no free wifi - bring games. Very good mobile phone reception. Easy walks from right there in Tidal River, boardwalk, river, beach. Suggest you bring a torch for night walks through camp site and easy wombat, possums, deer spotting and kites were also popular with our kids. Stunning scenery, photographer heaven, get fit, family time, fantastic!
