We stayed in Kasaar Jungle Resort during our trip to Almora & Binsar. The location where the resort is situated is splendid, with great view of Dhauladhaar mountain range. Accommodation facilities were adequate, clean rooms and effective housekeeping. Hospitality staff were quite courteous and helping. Food quality, however, was a let down not justifying the star rated charge of meals. It is a sincere suggestion to the concerned management of the resort to improve the quality of food, so that stay in the resort can be totally enjoyed.

Room Tip: Ask for West facing rooms, as the view of snow clad mountain range is available without obstruction

Visited this place in Feb 2012.
I guess it is the only best cottage in Almora, to stop over before you move on to your next destination or simply enjoy Almora and around!

Excellent Scenic beauty, serene, quite, clean with lots of Deodar trees around. Has a jungle feel.. with all the comforts !
Every room has a balcony/ sit-out area to enjoy your morning evening tea.
Every room has a different view and you have to walk / climb a few hilly stairs to reach to your room which is good if you enjoy hilly natural stay !
Some rooms have excellent Himalayan view with natural light.
Rooms have big glass windows to view the nazaara…
Having breakfast in their open dining area is awesome, viewing the hills... sun...
Rooms have the facility of electric tea maker.

Don’t forget to take a short walk to Kassar Temple, ( so the cottage name ! ) walking distance from the cottage, especially in the evening, sun set is beautiful, breathtaking view, breathe the pure clean air on top of the hill where temple is situated! Panditji is available if you are lucky ! Or ring the bell of the temple number of times n he will come !! Tip him if u feel like for his quick pooja as he looks forward for it !!

To have a clear Snow capped Himalayan view visit in Feb end, March, April, n I guess it’s less crowded also during these months.
They make very nice aaloo gobhi parathas!
Overall services are good. The manager is humble, courteous, and friendly.
Don’t expect lavish food, if u are a simple eater, you won’t find anything less.
Rooms n bathrooms are clean with enough hot water.
In Feb it was pretty cold, so go with equipped clothes, extra pair of socks, warmer as the place gets real cold in the evenings, they do provide hot air blower but it’s not really effective!

Overall I would say it was a great experience bcz of the place itself, temple n ya nearby Panchachuli, women weavers of Kumaon as they have excellent hand woven.
woolen shawls, stoles, mufflers in beautiful natural colors dyes. Its on the way to the cottage, keep a check or ask the local people. The shop has some timings, 10 am - 1 pm, 3-5 pm, they shut down early in the evening.

Room Tip: Don’t forget to take a short walk to Kassar Temple, ( so the cottage name ! ) walking distance from...

I visited Kasaar Jungle Resort, Almora last weekend for 3 nights along with my wife , business partner and his wife . While the hotel it self is located on the wonderful part of Almora , on a pretty mountain side surrounded by trees , the facilities and rooms are quite good, well appointed , the staff overall quite courteous, they fell short quite teriibly in the food department. We were booked to say on an MAP Plan, stay with breakfast and one meal ( dinner ) .Since the hotel had low occupancy, they offerered to serve us A La Carte, instead of the usual buffet , this is where they failed miserably , we were served measly limited portions , especially the non vegetarian dishes, for the first two nights they served a main course with less than half a chicken for 4 persons . When we met and complained to the manager on the 3rd day , they again did the same thing, it took some serious complaining for them to rectify the portion size on day 3 , this after the meal was served . Pity that such a misery attitude about food spoilt what would have been an otherwise excellent stay .

Room Tip: As the hotel is on a mountain side with steep steps and a lot of climbing is need to go to and from...

Although this resort features when you look for resorts at Binsar, this is a good 25-30 kms from Binsar wildlife sanctuary (the real forest area), which is a lot in the hills. Neverthless, the resort is well located and offers a gorgeous view of the snow peaks if you take rooms at higher levels. Take ground floor rooms only if you have small kids, so that they can run around. Children can be left unattended and have a slide and swings to play on (though poorly maintained). Cleanliness of the rooms is average and towels dont smell too clean. Food is ok but be on time or you will have to wait for it to be replenished. Considering the facilities and proximity to the large Almora town, tarrif is a bit steep. The Manager is helpful and receptive to feedback. Staff is polite and helpful though not too well trained. It is absolutey essential to have a vehicle because there is nothing to see within walking distance except the Kasar Devi temple..a tiny temple with several bells.
We stayed 2 nights and drove to the Wildlife santuary one of the days. About 5 kms on the way, there is a small 'chhatri' on a hilltop. You can park below the hill and climb up. The view from here is fabulous. Not exactly a star place but decent enough!

Room Tip: Rooms on higher floors have a better view

Kasar Jungle Resort in Binsar, Almora, Uttarakhand, India

A beautiful property located amidst pine trees and other forest flora at several levels on a hill top, with clear views of the sunrise and sunset, with well maintained cottages, rooms and other buildings. Modern amenities and facilities in all the well furnished rooms with nice, clean bathrooms, hot showers, room heaters and plenty of blankets for the chilly nights.
Car parking is located quite a distance away from the Lounge.
Lounge and dining rooms are not heated and so one has to have meals in the utter cold during the winter months! The food is average although the service was excellent with a responsive and caring staff.
The room TVs were not working as they should since the hotel management had failed to renew their subscription in time! This is inexcusable considering the tariff paid.
A very comfortable and enjoyable stay, particularly for nature lovers and those fond of living in the mountains of the Himalayas. Rather expensive by Indian standards at Rs3500/- per night for a double bedroom accommodation.

Room Tip: Select a double bedroom with a view of the mountains from the window. Ask for a free room heater for...
