If you are looking for comfort and peace this is the place to come. Rainbow Guesthouse is consistently clean in every area of the guesthouse (this is the first place in India that I slept in the sheets!).
The views are breathtaking- Rain or shine.
As I write this I could be sitting on the roof top patio looking at the peaks of Nepal OR India.
I will definitely be back.

Room Tip: The more you spend, The more luxurious it is. Definitely money well spent :)

we stayed in the rainbow guest house for almost 3 weeks.
the location of the house is one of the best in kasar devi, with a perfect view to the village down the Hill and to the mountain with a great panoramic view.
the location is important as you are bit far from the main road, you need to walk through the path from the main road and walk into the forest for 3 minute and than you arrive to greatest point in kasar:

a house with 6 rooms (maybe more).
on the top terrace there is the restaurant of the place, and without any doubt- they have the best food in kasar devi. even if you don't go to stay there, go eat there!

rooms are very clean, including the restaurant, whice made our stay very pleasant.

bathroom and restroom- clean, hot water.

service: great, we arrived with 2 kids, and all crew were oriented to us which was great.
sabo the manager of the place is very special guy. generous, kind, reliable, honest and willing to help and arrange everything. we felt like we came home far from home and with kids its good to have it.

I have travelled a lot in India over the past 8 years and I can truly say that this is the best guesthouse I have ever stayed in. The rooms are so clean! I often crave white sheets when I am travelling, they're here! The rooms are really tastefully decorated with bright colours too.

But, the view is what really got us. It's on the hill, with one side looking over the valley, and the other side, you can see the Himalayas. It's gorgeous.

After living in Delhi, what we really wanted was fresh air and peace and quiet. This is the perfect long weekend away from Delhi hustle and bustle, it was great to soak up the sun in the deckchairs on the balcony.

The manager can't do enough to help you, and the food was really good too.

I can't wait to go back. I can't recommend it enough.

Room Tip: I had the corner room on the second floor, with the big 2 windows- wake up, open your curtains and s...

a lovely guesthouse in the relaxing village of kasar devi that had amazing views from our room. rooms were clean and nicely decorated, with a communal area for dining and yoga sessions if you wish. the food was good, with yummy indian dishes and the ol' pancake with nutella favourite.

our main reason for visiting the area was for trekking. the owner sabu arranged the perfect trip for us when we got there: 3 nights trekking through the villages nearby starting at the guesthouse and finishing at the temples of jageshwar. all our accommodation, food, guide, porter, transport back to guesthouse was included with no hidden costs (other than well deserved tips that were never asked for) and a v reasonable price. we were able to tailor the trip to the length we wanted with the opportunity to go on many other longer treks if we had the time.

the villages were amazing: no shops, no roads and at harvest time everyone was out in the fields with hand farming the fields around the villages. our guides were invaluable, teaching us the farming methods that had been in place for hundreds of years.

we stayed in homestays that were simple, clean and had western flushing loos in blocks outside. the guides heated up water over the fire so we could have a hot bucket shower, and there was mostly some electricity running for the lights.

the food was amazing, cooked with locally produced items over an open fire and better than many restaurants in the uk. we didnt get ill once! and the porridge made from the wheat (frm last years harvest) and milk straight from the cow was perfect for a busy day of walking.

the treks themselves took around 6 hours up and down mountain paths and a great opportunity to see a huge variety of birds, along with monkeys (2 types) and porcupine. and we didnt see any other tourists for 4 days. zilch, absolutely nobody...perfect!

We were stayin' here fo 10 days, though there were some slightly problems with hot water and electricity, there were also free wi-fi and great personal. So Rainbow guest house is a lovely place to stay.
