Just imagine you are in a traditional village house isolated from the civilization surrounded by the snow peaks of the mighty Himalayas, but amidst un-parallel luxury. . Just imagine you wake up to the chirping of so many species of birds you have never seen or heard. Come out of your room and the mighty Nandadevi is right in front of you with all it's majesty. You cherish the snow peaks with a hot cup of tea prepared to the right strength and sugar. Take a walk around and breathe in the pure air as much as you can. By the time you finish your walk, your breakfast is served(as per your choice) amidst lush yellow mustard plantation and lemon trees. After breakfast you may go visit a neighbor -- trek to the nearest village and spend some time with the villagers there over a cup of tea they lovingly make specially for you, which by the way is on a nearby hill(remember, the hill on which you are staying belongs to you). By now you must be feeling very hungry with all the treks. You will be pampered with a 4 coarse lunch set out at a location different from the one where you had your breakfast(beware of overeating -- it's so delicious)! Time for a nap....wake up to a reddish orange sky at sunset and the last glimpse of the Himalayas. By now your bonfire is ready and set out in the open for you to enjoy a drink or just gaze at the zillion starts that dot the entire sky!! By now you are totally exhausted "with happiness and a sense of fulfillment" you didn't imagine you will ever experience. It's time for dinner -- another 4 coarse treat with the usual caveat about over-eating!

That's a typical day for you in Itmenaan Estate. What do you call that? Magical, mystical, romantic or pure bliss and a life-time experience? That's what Itmenaan Estate is all about.

PS: I would do Shweta(in their Delhi office) a great injustice if I don't mention her here. She has been so very helpful and patient in organizing the entire program for us.

Room Tip: Just ask Shweta. She will guide you to the room best suited for your requirement

Right from the first email, we found Itmenan a wholesome different experience. We booked all the 3 rooms in Itmenan for the last week of January for 5 nights.
The staff is excellent and they really take care and know their stuff. Food was good, and was adapted to our needs as we requested simple home made Indian food.
On the fifth year of our marriage we wanted to remarry as per the Hindu customs. Itmenan staff went out of the way to arrange the marriage ceremony. Because of that we could prepare and plan everything in advance. All the necessary stuff was bought in advance by Itmenan and we were even helped in getting the priest ( Pujariji) to get the marriage done at Jageshwar temple.
Correspondence with Shweta ( Delhi office) was great and she was always prompt and helpful to respond to all our queries.
Naturalist Avijit at Itmenan is full of enthusiasm and we enjoyed thoroughly the tracking under his guidance. We also enjoyed his thrilling experiences during his present and past work, which he shared with us every night. It was great to sit around the fire to listen to his amazing stories and to see some great photographs he took.

The only negative we felt was the cold. Room Heating wasn't sufficient to keep the room and the bathroom heated enough.

Plus side : fantastic views. Solitude. Physical good walks. Very clean. Good water supply. Food/Meals provided. Very Good staff. Though need to find a way of attracting staff attention better as in a separate building. Great getaway location
Negatives: no vehicle access so strenuous walk from road down steep incline for 30 mins to lodge. No electricity during the day. No Internet.

Currently there are 3 joined accommodations in a single building. Which was fine as we were only ones there. However if others occupied you would feel on top of each other and would not have the solitude of this location. The owner is currently building other separate lodges. No television so would only appeal to some families.

We went to Itmenaan estate in September 2012 for a 2 day stay and WOW what a memorable stay it was. It is very rare that you travel for more than 12 hrs on road then walk a kilometer on rough terrain to reach your destination and not feel tired. The adventure with itmenaan starts the moment you park your car near the local market and start walking towards the hotel. If you have childlike curiosity and even a little streak of adventure you will love this place.

It’s a beautiful property amidst orchards of apple, lemon, sweet lime, pomegranate etc. The place was beaming with colors as flowers were in full bloom when we visited.
I am quite finicky about hotel washrooms because in best of the hotels you’ll either have the one or the other problem; but this place has an amazing bathroom. Sun roof for a start, spacious (almost as big as your room and you have decently big rooms here) best sanitary wares and hot water all the time (I still wonder how they manage to provide hot water all the time).

You have a big spacious room but unlike a city hotel it does not have a wardrobe or much storage space. Nevertheless, you don’t miss it because there is enough space in the room to arrange your bags.

The courtyard gives you splendid view of the Himalayan range. The place is surrounded by hills and clouds. On a sunny clear day you get a wonderful view on the snow clad mountain range. One can hear the wind blowing, birds chirping, sounds which are extinct in Gurgaon. You can spend hours with a book and tea in this courtyard.

We were served 4 course continental lunch by an extremely courteous staff. The dinner was equally lavish and sumptuous. All the time we were wondering how did these guys manage to get all the produce here. The food was impeccable… it had all the elements and almost the same quality you will get in Delhi/Gurgaon.

But for me the USP of this place is neither the magnificent views nor the great food but the courteous and very helpful staff. The stay may not have been half as good if the service was not this great!

We had visited with our families which included three kids of an age group of 18 months to 5 years. Any family person can imagine the amount of luggage we were carrying. The staff met us at the local market where we parked our cars and carried our luggage and at times kids all through the 800 meter downhill walk. On day one we requested the staff for fresh milk; our kids could not drink it since unlike the packaged variety we get in cities fresh milk has an odour which our kids are unaware of!!! The staff was so considerate they got Amul milk the next day for kids without us asking for it.

Similarly we were served chicken in Dinner; this was local country chicken and for those who have not eaten country chicken it’s a bit chewy for normal city folks. The attendant quietly observed us struggling with the chicken and made sure we were served with broiler variety the next day. Now that’s what I call personalized service and luxury at its best.

In any big hotel you’ll get a sumptuous buffet with great variety but hardly anyone is bothered if you enjoyed your meal and had your full. On a holiday I want to be pampered and taken care of and that’s exactly how I felt in Itmenaan. So if you are looking for a quite but comfortable stay then itmenaan is the place for you. We had a great and memorable holiday all thanks to the itmenaan staff. Thanks for making this beautiful property and managing it with so much grace.

Walks through the valleys give one a chance to meet local people and experience customs.

We were thoroughly looked after by the staff at Itmenaan from the moment we enquired about booking and then throughout our whole stay. Lots of small details were thought about such a leaving umbrellas outside the door in case it rained in the morning. We went with 2 other couples and so had the place to ourselves - highly recommended if you want to have a relaxing break with friends. The food was amazing and felt like it didn't stop coming. And the views are pretty spectacular.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great. Best to go in a group and take over all 3 rooms.

We had a great time , but more so as we were with another couple. Nothing much though for young kids to do, so they do need company .
