KMVN Tourist Guest House - Jageshwar
Ranked #22 of 36 Almora B&B and Inns
Reviewed June 18, 2013

Had visited this property 2 years back - found it nice though not so well maintained. This time stayed at the property for 2 nights, in their executive rooms. Recommend the rooms, they have 3 rooms on ground floor, and 3 rooms on first floor in the new block. The first floor rooms offer a nice view of the place and also allows you to enjoy the decent sized balcony.

On our last trip we had preferred to eat food at No 1 Dhaba, and were too happy about it. On this visit - we had almost all our meals at KMVN, and we would recommend it. Nice , home cooked food. The place Jageshwar has become busier as compared to what it was 2 years back - more visitors - more guest houses etc.

The staff are friendly and helpful.

Jageshwar......is some place where one should go, when he has only one thing in mind.........solitude..........and some soul searching...
Have been there a couple of times and the best place to stay is the KMVN rest-house
Bang opposite to the temple and a very quiet place.
nothing to do apart from the long walks and sitting with your book in the woods
absolute no crowd, the temples in the hills aren't like the plains, and this one is no where crowded....just PEACEFUL
The resort is good and rooms decent, no mobile connectivity at the resort, one needs to travel back 2 kms to get connectivity

Nice accomodation , with rather basic facility, Its really cheap, food is good, the rooms are big , and comfortable, clean and service is also quite nice, though little slow.
feels quite save and homely. I will definitely stay again .
its standard KMVN hotel with standard facility, typical government run guest house. yes look wise poor maintenance. But location is absolutely bliss.

We stayed in a four bedded room in early June 2012.
The property is located on the highway from Nainital leading to Almora just as you enter the city (1 km after Aakashwani). The hotel reception and rooms are upstairs from the main road so you have to park your car on an empty plot just in front of the hotel entrance. Hotel will arrange for a coolie to take your luggage upstairs.
The property is dirt cheap (Rs 1800/ including breakfast) but some amenities are badly missing - there is no power back-up so you have to use a candle in case lights go off in evenings. There was a water shortage when we visited and the water supply was limited to 2-3 hrs in the mornings. For other times you have to rely on 1-2 buckets of water kept in your room.
The room, however, was very large, bed sheets & towels clean, TV working and even a wall mounted fan was there in the room.
The views from the room are very good.
Food in the hotel is quite simple but hygienic.
The main market is about 2 km from the hotel.
Overall value for money - with some compromises.

Room Tip: Take first floor rooms to get clear view of the valley.

This is a standard KMVN Property, with all the plusses and minuses associated with any other KMVN Property - Nice Location, Nice Staff , Poor Maintenance, though clean bed, room , and bed sheets .. Can't comment on food since we did not have any food at the place .. we discovered a Dhaba and preferred eating at the No 1 Dhaba across the road .. now visitors to Jageshwar dont have much of an option since this is the only option available at the place for a nice decent stay .. other options would be small guesthouses put in place by the local folks , temple priests etc .. T

Room Tip: Go for rooms facing the front / main road ..
