It is a great resort and a must visit. It is located slightly away (around 6 to 7 kms) from Almora, but a very scenic and quiet place. There are 9 cottages. The Eaglenest is the best. But we couldn't get that, since it was booked by somebody else. We stayed in the cottage named 'OWL'. Quite spacious for 3 of us. The cottage was excellent and very close to the dining hall.

Narendra and his team took a great deal of care of us. Very nice & friendly service with a to-do attitude. The quality of food was good. However, the buffet is not elaborate and does not have much of options, maybe because it caters to only 9 cottages.

Overall, it has been a fantastic stay.

Kalmatia Sangam came highly recommended from a lot of people as well as Tripadvisor, so naturally the expectations were high. The KS team didn't disappoint :)
Firstly, a big shout out to Narendra and Imogen, thank you ... and the rest of your team for the pleasant stay.

Now to the review:

Location:
it's a bit off the usual Uttaranchal haunts. The access roads are narrow and steep, but hey it's the mountains. Best route in my opinion will be
arrive Haldwani-->Bhimtal-->Bhowali-->Almora-->Binsar if you are driving.
Again, we just got out before the rains ruined everything, so the roads will now be pretty bad.

The cottages :
are lovely. Stayed at the Himalayan Magpie ...which I think is the most amazing one. Then again there are different cottages catering to different needs and numbers.

The rain started to pour since the time we checked in to the time we left the mountains. This was a downer, but the cottages and property are a destination in themselves. The entire property is around 12 acres ( i may have that number a bit wrong here.....but you get the general idea)

Staff/service :
were great, cheerful and helpful.

Food :
Breakfast spread was basic but everything tasted really great. We chose to dine out so can't comment on the lunch/dinner meals. However the meals we ordered in-room were also fine. I will say above average.

Massage/Reflexology options are there too.

Overall it was a good stay, the rain gods played spoilsport, but I appreciate all the help and recommendations from Narendra and Imogen.
Maybe next time in fair-weather I can compensate for what was lost due to the rains. :)

Piece of advice: We carried our own liquor as it is difficult to find some otherwise.
Other lil thing : Do stop by at the Kainchi temple en route. Am an atheist, but still found it very nice. And the guy outside makes a killer shikanji!

Room Tip: Highly recommend the Himalayan Magpie for couples.

It is an awesome place between Almora and Binsar. The place meant for all those who enjoy being close to the nature and like peace. Every inch of the resort is tastefully developed and maintained passionately. It has great collection of books and music. The staff is very warm and service is too good. Thank you Narendra , Imogen and your staff for making our stay a memorable one. Would like to visit this place again and again.

Stayed at Eagles Nest. It was close to a perfect vacation waking up to some really breathtaking views of the Himalayas. Food was good. Kids loved the place. We had some nice treks close by and a lot of sightseeing trips a short drive away.

Most of all we loved the hospitality of the Manager and staff. They went out of their way to see to the comforts of my Mother in Law and Kids.

My wife and myself celebrated our honeymoon at Kalmatia at the Himalayan Magpie..and it was worth it..
The tiredness from long drive from Kathgodam to the Resort at late night evaporated the moment we saw the resort, the ambience, the cottage and the arrangement..
You would get almost everything you need during a holiday...except a TV..but, honestly, if you are in Kalmatia you would thank the management there's no TV..you don't need one..you have got nature in her best form, superb cottages, good music, great books, greater food, the best possible staffs and manager...Everyone's eager to help you and plan your trips based on requirements and physical health and interest...
I would like to thank the entire staffs and especially Narendra and Imogen for making our Honeymoon special...
I would strongly refer Kalmatia Sangam for everything it has....I will come back!!

My husband and I stayed at Kalmatia Sangam at the end of April and also did their Kumoan Village Walk. We cannot put into words how much we enjoyed staying here. Narendra and Imogen were so welcoming and professional and made it clear that they would go to great lengths to ensure we enjoyed our stay. The cottages are spotless and kept to an impeccable standard and the grounds of the resort are beautiful and very well maintained. Its the perfect place to relax with a book and enjoy the view. Imogen gave me a fantastic birthday massage in their health center, which I would highly recommend to anyone!
The 3 day Kumoan Village Walk organised by Imogen was really amazing. The landscape is stunning and the insight you get into village life well away from the roads is amazing. The highlights for us: The 9th Century stone temple hidden in a quiet beautiful valley surrounded by birds and wheat fields, the 85 year old man at the remote chai house who served us fantastic tea to an amazing view, the little girls who gave us 3 red roses as a gift after we played with them, the lady whose house we stayed in on the last night showing me how to properly roll out chapatis and puris and cook them on the fire and the early morning Himalayan view on our last day (because it was April this was our only full view of them) we sat for an hour at 7am just marveling at these incredible and majestic mountains. Our guide was very knowledgeable, kind and interesting and our porters were lovely. Again, we cannot recommend this place enough. They even saved us after we arrived at our next Himalayan location to find terrible conditions. Imogen and Narendra organised a car to drive us down to Delhi and got us straight out of there. Its not often you get such amazing service, and its often difficult to tell from Trip Advisor whether a place is really up to the hype. We can assure you this one is.

Once you enter inside the resort from highway after long drive you will be amazed by the atmosphere here very peaceful birds are chirping, colorful butterflies, flowers, very few cottages in this lush green orchid.he place provided a very peaceful and calm. There was lot of open space around the cottages. You could feel the tranquility as you walk in the resort.

We stayed as a family with our dog at Eagle's nest cottage. The staff was very courteous. We stayed to be spoiled A very friendly and homely atomosphere Very Well Mangaed by Narendra & Imogen.....There was a personal touch in everything.... Thanks a lot for all the love you give us will stay.....All of us including my dog Buster enjoyed the stay. We are coming back definitely.
