Bhimtal Lake – Situated 22 km from the city center, Bhimtal Lake is the biggest lake of Nainital. It is named after the second Pandava brother Bhima in the Mahābhārata who was known for his prodigious strength. The lake, which is larger than Naini Lake, is approximately 22 km (14 mi) from Nainital at an altitude of 1,370 m (4,490 ft). There is an island in the lake with a popular restaurant on it. There is also a 17th-century temple complex, the Bhimeshwar, alongside a 40 ft (12 m) high dam at one end of the lake.

Bhimtal Lake is nice place to visit. You can reach to the aquarium at the center of the lake by boat.
View of the lake from top of aquarium is must match. You can sit and send spend some relaxing moments sitting there. You can also visit 1 SHIV TEMPLE close to the lake. It was created by BHIM (of mahabharata ). bhimtal is also named after BHIM.

In short, visit lake and temple which is at walking distance. And, spend some relaxing time sitting on roof of aquarium.

my first visit to nainital was in 2009,decembar,i had seen many attractions in nainital including naini lake, sat tal & pachkuchia tal but seeing bhimtal,I was spellbound by its beauty & an atmosphere of sereneness which we find durung deep meditation & heavenly surrondings.During my visit in october 2013 from 12-10-13 to16-10-13,my main attraction for nainital was to see bhimtal again.I had been to bhimtal on 15-10-13 with the same nostalagic eagerness with a fear in mind that the great bhimtal might have lost its splendour due to commercial activities & more crowd.but after reaching there I thanked God that he has kept bhimtal in the same backdrop as I had seen earlier.Combination of cloud above the water, the vast expanse of water & a few boats surfing on the water gave a different dimension of the beauty of thr lake. Sitting over a bench by the side of the lake, time passed on eternally with a feeling that the landscape made by the almighty cant be compared with any human creations.I offer my prayers to god almighty to keep our very dearest bhimtal in the same posture designed by his holiness.
