If you want to unwind, relax without the cacophony of the usual 'tourist', you can't find a better place. The location and the view across the lake, particularly at night is terrific. Sit on the deck at night with subtle lighting, gaze across the lake - the experience is awesome. Rooms are well done up, tastefully decorated and very clean. The food is simple and homely. Have a chat with their chef Hemant Negi on your preferences, he will amaze you with the combination of spices he uses. But then, you got to know something about food !! The staff is extremely efficient, quiet and unobtrusive. They have facilities for angling and mountain biking-if you are so inclined.
Puran their manager is super efficient. Incidentally, he is a qualified mountaineer. He will advise & guide you correctly on your sight seeing plans. Thanks a lot Puran and your staff for a wonderful holiday. We are coming back in October !
To sum up- A holiday with a touch of class.

If your purpose is to relax in a nicely done property facing lake with real friendly service, this should be the only option in Bhiimtal. Property facing lake and gives awesome look in the night. People are really genuine and ready to help all the time. The only area of improvement could be the spread of food. Overall an amazing experience and I would recommend it to everyone!!

Room Tip: Take the rooms with windows also facing lake

Excellent location, excellent property..was there 2nd time now..but simple love the place..rooms properly design, adequate balcony, big bathrooms...if you asked me about food..it is just awesome when they add their special services to it...staff is very quiet and nice to interact and ever ready to help u...i was with my wife and other rooms were vacate but they have cater to us at best to best possible way.. heavy tea snacks is just bonanza to package ...deck superb maintained.. only one suggestion to owner of property that is the right time to take small small improvements like carpet outside my room was little torn and bathroom door lock system is getting retire, kindly change it..except all this every thing was rightly designed.

Will definately visit countless time to this property...also suggest me if you guys have some other properties to explore.

We stayed as family in the second week of May 2012 and rate this as my best experience of staying in lake fronted lovely small boutique resort. Very warm welcome, the room was clean when we entered, the bathroom was clean and tidy with everything in place...

The USP of this would be the views it offers from the room, service, the Manager takes personal interest in activities you are interested and last but not the least the food which was very tasty...

Initially i had planned to base myself at Bhimtal and explore the nearby areas like Nainital, Mukteshwar, etc, but realized that though the distance from Bhimtal to Nainital is not more its just not possible to leave from Bhimtal in the morning and come back in the evening.. Hence, sadly we stayed only for a day....

If you like to stay in a place with views, this is the place to go.... Imagine sitting in the Balcony with cool wind on a moonlit night....

There’s something ‘refreshing’ about Fishermen’s Lodge, and it doesn’t take long for one to get infected by this. And the feeling tends to stay with you while you’re there.
In the company of the venerable Prithipal Singh and his wife Prateek, I’d journeyed out from Delhi by an afternoon train, hopped off at Rudrapur rather than Kathgodam, the last stop, in order to partake of some refreshments, and then driven to Bhimtal to arrive in time for a sumptuous dinner. Things couldn’t have panned out better. Finally, we’d called it a day!
With Mr. Ghanshyam Agarwal, the lodge’s owner having promised us an experience out of the ordinary, the stage had been set and expectations ran high. Our group was looking forward to the coming days with undisguised excitement. The fact that the package on offer exceeded our expectations speaks volumes for this wonderful lodge in the mountains.

From its perch on a low hill that peters down to the lake, commanding superb views, the lodge is a sentinel of sorts and very much a part of the town’s still - manageable urban sprawl. The hotel’s façade is fairly straight-laced, with the large bay windows of its twelve bed rooms and lobby being the primary feature. The interior is tastefully done up and appointed, with each room commanding lake views. A dining room that opens out onto a verandah; a regal lounge; and a cosy lobby area are all inviting in their own right. But the hotel’s primary asset is its large deck, which provides fine views of the lake and a comfortable perch to soak up the sun or sit under the stars. This is true relaxation and barbecue turf, and not surprisingly, guests spend a considerable amount of their time here. One can sip his coffee, read a book, or just gaze across the lake.

It didn’t take us long to realize that foodies are in for a treat here. Thanks to the inputs of two highly competent chefs, they dish out food that would leave all but the cynics satisfied. They can serve up old-fashioned breakfasts, with their specialty baked eggs or mushrooms on toast – old family recipes inherited from their grandparents’ kitchens. Lunches and dinners offer a choice of Indian and Continental, with the freshness of farm-produced ingredients being the key. Tea time brings forth a fine collection of teas that include Darjeeling, Assam, Earl Grey, Masala, Elaichi, and Lemon, served with home-baked cookies. If all this isn’t enough, you can venture into the kitchen and do your own stuff.

Morning saw us hop into our vehicle and set out for the much-touted outing to various nearby places of interest. Siddharth Agarwal owner’s son drove us to a patch of forest with a pristine mountain and valley view; then to Naukatiatal; Sattal; and finally to a little lake by the forest where we stopped for a picnic lunch. This idyllic spot provided just the right amounts of natural beauty and privacy. The day slipped by rather quickly and we arrived back at the lodge just in time for a welcome cup of tea on the deck.
Came morning, and breakfast duly tucked in, we set out once again to discover the local environs, and they do deserve time and attention. And then there was lunch, an adventure by itself. The evening shadows were lengthening when we ventured onto the lake for a spot of fishing. The lake was calm, the boat wobbly, and the fish just refused to take the bait. But it was a pleasant little outing, nevertheless.

All too soon it was time to say goodbye to the quaint lodge that had been our home for three days. Understandably, the overall mood was a bit somber on the drive back to Delhi.
Short on fuss and strong on hospitality Fishermen’s Lodge is exactly the kind of hotel one would recommend to those one likes.
