My boyfriend and I stayed in Tiger Lagoon for 3 nights in April 2013 and we had a wonderful time.
Bizarrely, we were the only two guests at the time of our stay which meant that we had what was essentially a personal catering service! The food was delicious and diverse throughout our stay, kudos to the restaurant staff for keeping us full and happy.
The staff at Tiger Lagoon were also exceptional in helping us organize our safaris in the different zones of the reserve - we had not managed to book safaris for every day of our stay but staff at Tiger Lagoon were incredibly helpful in ensuring we made the most of our time in Bandhavgarh. One afternoon when the reserve was closed we had a fantastic guided bird watching tour of the local area with the Indian Bill Oddie - Bhurisingh. He was incredibly knowledgeable and was a brilliant guide - I was not particularly interested in bird-watching prior to this walk but he still managed to keep me entertained throughout! The walk through the local village was also lovely, it felt like an authentic experience and we enjoyed interacting with a wide range of people.
Although the Tiger Lagoon is a bit of a distance from the reserve, staff were efficient in getting us to and from places. Also, it was nice to be away from the main village/town bit which wasn't particularly interesting or nice and just heavily catered to visitors to the reserve.
The room we stayed in was spacious and comfortable, facing a brook from the patio. The big windows gave the room a lot of natural light and the bathroom was also huge! The Jacuzzi outside was also lovely and a post-morning safari break.
In conclusion, I would say the attentive and thoughtful staff really made the place that extra bit special and we had a great stay at Tiger Lagoon. I would especially recommend it to couples and families as it is a beautiful little retreat away from the hubbub around the reserve itself.
