Thank you all for your great comments. They helped me make up my mind while choosing a holiday destination. And what an awesome holiday it was!
Just perfect!
Raju, Narain, Sunita and Kajal took such great care of us.
We spent four days of blissful oblivion from our hectic city lives.
Junoon is like a home away from home with the right amount of every necessity.
Caring people, scenic nature, soothing gardens and great architecture are just a few good things at Junoon.
Thank you Amitabh for a memorable experience.

Room Tip: We stayed at the blue room. All rooms are good though with good views.

"Junoon" is the best word to describe that place. A Masterpiece in Ranikhet.

Staff is very very friendly here. Fun and facility of Bonfire here is like the best. Surrounded by hills from all sides, full of beautiful flowers & views. I was there with my office colleagues for 2 days and then we decided to extend our trip for one more day because of the beauty of that place.
A must go place in Ranikhet. Thank you Junoon for giving me such a beautiful & heavenly experience.

Room Tip: Take room near to kitchen.

We had travelled to Kumaon in the 3rd week of May with another family friend. We had booked ourelves for 2 nights on 16th & 17th May. It is a private bunglow built with a lot of love, care & passion & admirably well maintained by a very well trained & courteous staff.

The view from the sit out is spectacular with the view of the hills & beyond. we had the entire bunglows to ourselves over the 2 days and by the end out of stay we hoped we had booked this pace for a couple of more days.

We had two four your old with us and kids had a great time running around the property, playing with local kids an eating fresh food (cooked as per our request) to their hearts' content.

If you ask us what we missed here.....we'd say we got much more than we expected!! Need we say more?!!

Lovely place....must visit...we are definitely going to visit this place again but next time it will be in winters!!

Junoon in the Hills is by far the best place I have stayed for a vacation so far. It's a private bungalow and is remotely located on top of a hill. The view from there is just spectacular and breathtaking.... We stayed 1st & 2nd May and thankfully had the whole house to ourselves. I was quite fascinated by the amount of money, effort, thought and time spent by the owner Amitabh to build this lovely property. Liked his concept of having different color rooms with the same color upholstery... we stayed in the Blue Room :-) The caretaker's offered great hospitality, were very courteous and surprisingly cooked all the dishes very well. I still remember the excellent Kadhi and nice and thick Sambhar we had.. cooked with just the right spice .. it gave a feeling of having home cooked food....and they really go out of their way to accommodate your request.... The property has beautiful landscapes and I loved seeing flowers of different varieties and shapes. .the statues of Buddha around....added to the peaceful and relaxed experience ... Another highlight was lighting of candles by the caretaker every evening..and the small lights on the stairs...
We enjoyed playing pool and having a choice of lot of books, comics to read!! It's a place where you do absolutely NOTHING !! and just enjoy the gorgeous property and mesmerizing nature around..We enjoyed having our breakfast on the deck and wish this was located closer to mumbai .. would have visited often then.. its truly a home away from home..
I really hope other visitors value this place and help in the upkeep of this bungalow. During our stay we could make out with each and every piece of furniture that this place has been built with lot of love and passion.. and I really hope and pray others will treat it like their own vacation home as well.

Only downside was it was too far.. lot of drive uphill but upon reaching you will definitely feel it was worth it!

Room Tip: Choose the Blue Room... It's bigger and has a better view as compared to others

Most places look really promising in pictures and tend to disappoint in reality. However, this isn't so with Junoon. What you see is what you get and It is every bit as spectacular and gorgeous. It's a lovely property tucked away in the midst of a small hamlet. Surrounded by mountains on all sides and plenty of beautiful landscaping to distract you from them. It's a tough internal battle whether you need to pay more attention to the view or the property.

The rooms and bathrooms are spacious and comfortable with all modern sensibilities. The main living room is huge and offers plenty for a family to keep busy, be it playing pool, watching tv or playing some card games. The staff are polite, warm and very hospitable. Meals can be made to your taste, are prepared fresh and they will go out of their way to accommodate a special request.

The high point for me was how much my 2 year old enjoyed, from watching the koi in the morning, to chasing dragonflies and butterflies, running free on the property and plucking off fruits straight from the trees. It was hard for us to keep him in one place for long.

I think some reviewers have mentioned electricity being a problem sometimes and that too in the nights, but it didn't seem to bother me much, as you do have inverter back up and emergency flash lights. As for me I'd rather be sitting out in the deck and watch the stars in the night sky! God knows we city dwellers are bereft of such luxuries.

All in all a really comfortable and peaceful stay that leaves you wanting more. The only regrets that I do have is not getting a view of the mighty Himalayas and cosying up to a book by the fireplace in the living room, but I guess that warrants another trip when the climes are cooler, correct? :-)

I have been travelling in Uttarakhand for the last 10 years now – Junoon in the Hills is by far one of the best properties to visit in more than one ways.

Just that I do not miss out on anything I am dividing my views under important heads.

Way to Junoon in the Hills

You Need to take Left turn right after Krishna Restaurant, Garampani. The turn is easy to miss but thanks to Amitabh's crisp email, we were well prepared. After honking few horns, things did not change and we got down, had a few people to move their tempos - we crossed an old iron motorbridge.

That got us to other hill and the actual journey to the Junoon begins. As luck would have it nature started gearing up for rains and it was just completely awesome. Every second turn provided opportunity for photo shooting and it kept getting better and better.

You need to take a u-turn around 5 km ahead where milestone reads Kafulta - 15 kms. It is a steady climb upwards and road condition is ok for a normal car. You just need to keep your car in the middle of the road as due to some development work, they have dug on the side towards the hill. I have personally traveled a lot on the hills - believe me, this will not be troublesome at all :)

6-8 Turns and you catch glimpse of the bunglow they call Junoon in the Hills. Since, it was raining everything enroute was wonderful and you keep looking around for more lovely views :)

The Actual Place

We were greeted at the gate by Narayan & Raju – Caretakers with proper uniforms and pleasing manners and a small driveway takes you to the entrance. We were shown the rooms with lovely view courtesy large bay window and the Living Room.

We met Jojo & Google – two dogs and Google the little one was very playful.

Living Room is furnished nicely and luxuriously – the owners intent, global exposure and extent to which they want to make you feel comfortable is reflected here.

Anything, pool table, tv system, computer, lounge Furniture, Fixtures audio system, massager cushions etc. are top of the line stuff :)

And it opens on to a deck which gives you breathtaking views of the Himalayas (if you are luck, meaning no rains and good visibility). First Day it rained hard and we got some lovely views nevertheless minus Himalayas.

They have electricity points practically everywhere so your gadget will not run out of charge.

Sitting on the deck, listening to your favorite songs with/without drinks is something everyone will cherish for sometime.

They have sundecks as well.

The Garden & the Gym

Beautifully done up garden with rich, variety of flowers and proper landscaping which is a rarity in the hills. It is really nice on your foot and you can walk around even in slippers gazing at flower varieties each lovelier than the other. You have an open sit out covered with mesh at the end of garden to enjoy tea/drinks in the open. Yeah - Tea would be good. Drinks could be risky there after a while as it sits on an edge:)

They have a good gym as well for fitness freaks, again top of the class equipment.

Food

Simple, Homely and we particularly asked for less spicy and were served just that. You order and they make & serve and agreed time. Our gang was Chicken/Mutton & ‘Phulkas’ (Roti) lover and the ladies in the kitchen did a real good job of whipping out rotis at a good pace. We ate plenty to our satisfaction. Salads/Snacks in the evening were nice as well.

You spend sometime with them and plan menu for the day and they will take care of the rest. They also go beyond the appointed time to serve food to you in the night which is very nice.

Bon Fire

Rains had stopped and we asked them to arrange a bon fire for us which they did in a jiffy. Junoon in the Hills is one of the very few places I have seen which has a totally covered, full fledged rack for the woods. You may just run short of liquor but they will not run short of woods for bonfire. Again compliments to the owner Amitabh.

Peace & Himalayan Views
You will not find any vehicle movement for hours giving you ample time to your thoughts or just, no thoughts gazing blankly in the hills. I liked this anything as I am not very fond of concrete jungle type resorts/hotel where you have no space except balcony to call your own :)

We did get Himalayan Views briefly next morning from our windows itself but due to bad weather (viewing wise), that vanished in couple of hours.

We walked out of our hotel and surprised to find terrace farming over the hill with a small, very beautiful village. We will trek down to that village next time around.

Junoon in the Hills request you to treat them as your house and surely succeeds in that – full credit to the owner and I wish him Good Luck to maintain and retain the charm of this place.

We will be coming back here soon

Room Tip: All rooms are good :)

It was a pleasant surprise when we drove into the premises welcomed pleasantly by the staff after 2 hours drive in picturesque & winding roads up the hill.

It was rich in color with flowers of different varieties shapes and colors. The very glimpse at the property increases the energy in you. The sight of the mountain ranges is breathtaking... what you see in the website of junooninthhills.com is what you see and enjoy.

The property is self sufficient with hospitable staff and variety of traditional menu. You have full working wifi to be intouch with the world. Do not forget to try the specialities... Kadhi& rice, Egg paratha....You also have an equipped gym to ensure you burn the caloris gained. So just eat, workout enjoy and forget that there is a world outside...

We also took a 45 mt trek down through the steep downhill mountain range and villages. it was very great and colorful.

Sit on the deck with a cup of tea and your favorite book, You would be wondering to read or enjoy the view.

It was too fast ......three days passed and it was really hard to leave into your world of hustle& bustle from the serenity.

Room Tip: all the rooms are good with equal view
