“Shirdi trip”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

Shirdi is always a delight. On Saturday morning 9-Feb-13, i joined the Q at 7am at gate no 2 and was able to get drashan in 20 minutes flat. They don’t allow mobile phone inside the temple (for the good) and saw people being spotted by security guards and hence moving out of Q to arrange for safe deposits of their phones. Fortunately I listened to the advice of my hotel manager and carried nothing with me apart from cash.

Darshan is always a bliss, generally one gets about 10 seconds in front of the diety/ sai baba. I offered a rose garland which the pujari tossed towards the Samadhi. But that’s enough. One should not get hassled into Prasad transactions there. Not worth it. Prasad is sold by the trust inside the temple premise that one may buy after darshan. Its of good quality and reasonably priced.

After darshan, i sat peacefully for few mins, then strolled into a mini bank, it was just like any railway tkt counters but this was for donation to sai trust. I made a small donation in cash and was given a computerized receipt and few sachet of sacred vibhuti. For those care, and if the amount is significant, one can claim income tax exemption on the donation.

after that went around to nearby mazars of close followers of baba, also saw the neem tree where baba was spotted first at age of 16. Baba referred that place as his master’s place/ guru sthan. There is a railing around and obviously it’s prohibited to pluck leaves. But few people were waiting for dry leaves to fall….to each his own.

After spending an hour in peace, I stepped outside the premise to rejoin my chaotic world.

“You can visit without going through security gates”
Reviewed January 26, 2013

Chavdi (as well as dwarkamayi) can be visited without having to go via the security gates and one can easily spend a few minutes (of course not during vacations / weekends) meditating there.
