It was good to see a Holy Hindu Place maintained properly. Though there are touts offering you to have darshan with their special gate and way, u just need to buy some pooja samagri worth INR 1,200, don't fall for them. They are not good at all. Even specific touts are worthless asking INR 1,800 to 2,000. Best way is to either book it online and get the pass from Gate No. 1 or directly go to this gate if you have ailing parents or children less than 12 months of age. They issue free of charge pass for 2.

OM SAI RAM..!!

Visited Shirdi when my daughter was a little more than a year.Variety of hotels near the temple. Prefered to stay in Reva suites. They provide pick up and drop facilities and serve customized food. Neat , clean but a little on higher side.

Shirdi as a place has not much to offer except the temple and small shops in the adjoining area. If you are travelling , please carry your medicines as there is a shortage of shops and timings of shops are erratic.

Its a nice place to visit for a day and two. However, please beware of pick pockets.

It was very nicely maintained and you feel very good inside campus. We could not collect Baba's Udi as queue was very long. But overall it was fantastic.

Technology does make things simpler, especially if deployed well.
I have been only on a handful of religious trips, of which Shirdi features more than once!
While my trips to places like Tirupati and Ajmer Sharif have been more frustrating than spiritual, thanks to the highly commercial darshan process, I am pleased to see that the experience at Shirdi has always got better over the years.

Last weekend, on Eid (friday) actually, around 8 of us went to Shirdi enroute Mumbai, from Hyderabad.

Though I am quite an avid online shopper, when I booked VIP darshan tickets online a week prior on their website (https://online.sai.org.in), I was quite skeptical since the website doesn't actually have elaborate details on what to expect, and the VIP darshan ticket was for Rs 100 only!
Having been used to shelling out multiple hundereds to random thugs for prasad, flowers and even to keep your shoes... somehow a 100 rupees for a VIP darshan was difficult to digest!
[I hope they don't take this as a generic sentiment and hike up the prices now!]

All you need to do is upload your picture and provide an ID number (passport/license etc). Make sure you carry this proof with you as well. You also need to indicate the timeslot you wish to take the darshan at.

So I booked the darshan for 8 adults and 4 children on my name all for Rs 810 and we were at the "shani" gate, inside Gate number 3 at our reporting time of 830AM.

The PRO checked our ticket and let us in... we walked up past the regular queue, right at the main temple entrance and after a good 3-4 minute eye-to-eye darshan we were out by 8:50AM!

God bless honesty, simplicity, technology and all of us!
