We spent 2 nights at Hill Fort,Kesroli in the Hindola Mahal and might we say the hospitality of the staff was outstanding and the USP of the place besides the complete getaway from Delhi. If you want to relax....no tv ,no internet ...just the perfect place.
But wat really stood out for me was that the staff was extremely helpful and went out to help in every way they could. The food was also another plus...the buffets werent very lavish but well cooked and yummy meals....
Overall one of the most relaxing holidays in a long time....

It has turrets, it has ten foot thick battlements surrounding it,it has the traditional fort entrance where you have to turn twice and climb upwards before you can get to the actual entrance (built so in medieval times to make it difficult for the enemy to ambush and even to prevent elephants for making a charge at the door) and it has numerous mahals inside as well as a darbar hall- and yet it is a "non Fort" since it is actually quite too small to be called a Fort. But it is cosily, cutely, small with just two main courtyards round which the entire gamut of mahals open.

The rooms are either largish rooms attached to the Darbar hall, ( which people told us are part of the original structure) or they are rooms carved out of the ten foot thick battlements or built above it ,Most rooms are therefore more long than broad and go by exotic names like Tota mahal, Hariyal mahal etc which is part of the superb brand building exercise but there is nothing to differentiate between them. All rooms are however comfortable with nice clean bathrooms attached and most have a view of the farmland outside.None of course have TV or the net.(Thank heavensss)

The best part of the property is the absolutely huge swimming pool built on an extension of the main building with the fort walls forming a stunning backdrop to it.Most of the residents spend most of their time in or around the pool since there is not much else to do there.

The food is excellent and the menu fairly satisfactory though not huge but absolutely adequate. It is recommended that one take the with meals package since there is no place within 25-30 kms where one can eat.Besides, there is no point in moving out for food when lovely grub is available in house. The package we took included breakfast , dinner and high tea with hardly any scope left over for lunch (though we did pig out on lunch on both the days- and worked out the calories in the pool) While on the food, when you are there please make sure you have place left over in your tummy for the ice creams which are all homemade (as are the biscuits and cakes)
The service is excellent and the staff spares no effort in making ones life pleasant. We happened to ask for a pedestal fan while sitting out one evening and it was arranged in a jiffy along with an extension cord to make it work. The staffer took great pains to make the connection and make it operational.Such examples abound.

The only suggestion which one can make to make the living experience better is that the shower heads be washed regularly with some acid because they were choked with hardness and the spray of the shower was irregular taking away from the bathing experience hugely.

A note of warning- Do not check in here if you want to go to Bhangarh since it is a good three hours drive away and regardless of when you leave it would take you the whole day to get back.It is far better to check in the enjoy the property .

In case you are checking in on typical long weekends then all the more be warned against stepping out of the property, even to go to the 35 km away Sariska- the traffic from all the resorts in the Alwar area heads there and chokes all the roads. We drove to and fro and just entered the sanctuary and seeing the crowds gave up and drove back and yet took six hours off lovely time we could have spent in the resort. On such days the Fort battlements are the best defense against the holiday rush.

All in all a lovely place for a brief break which is just 4 hours drive from central Delhi and even less from Gurgaon.

We were there for 3 days in August. We had the cheapest room (3000 a night), but it was still very clean and pleasent. Really stylish old fort with good food.
They offer big breakfast, lunch, dinner and the 5 o'clock tea.
You can propably skip lunch (extra 500 pp) if you have your own snacks..
The swimmingpool is great. They have badminton equipement and some bicycles, so you can have a ride in through the fields around.
As the vilage is very dirty and poor (it is in the middle of nowhere in India), we decide to stay in the hotel and have real resort experience.
It is convinient to travel 3h from Delhi to Alwar with the morning train (500pp), they pick you up, than drop you off (1400 both ways, 30min) for the evening train (500pp). With cab from Delhi it would be around 9000.
Good escape from Delhi.

Room Tip: You will hang around the property, all rooms are niece and wit good quiet AC.

I was pleasantly taken aback by this quaint property. Perhaps not as frequented or well known as the other Neemrana property off NH8, this 'boutique' hotel far exceeded my expectations with the quality of the rooms (the website truly doesnt do justice...) and their staff.
The check in was hassle free and smooth. The staff was courteous and attentive from the moment we drove into the dusty driveway.
We were travelling with our young son, and a request for milk at 5 am was promptly met by the staff opening the kitchen and having it delivered in a few minutes to our room, and in this a hotel which doesnt offer room service! Kudos to their sensitivity and promptness.
The room was spacious. We had opted for Mangal Mahal, which has a smaller room adjoining the main room, ideal for a young child who may be accompanying you.
The property has the quaintness and flair of a medieval fort with the small windows and rustic touches across the property.
The dinner was exceptional, though the breakfast could have upped the notch for sure.
A great experience and a definite recommend!
Once again....kudos to the staff...they make the difference!!!

Had a fabulous 1 night stay at this fort/hotel. Operated by Neemrana, the service had to be immaculate. Rooms are comfortable, though small in size. The best addition to their hotel is the pool. Large pool with amazing view on both ends. One being vast fields with hills as the backdrop and other being the rustic fort itself. The best part was that we went in the off season on a weekday and therefore the entire fort was empty and to us.
Food was quite tasty and apt. It gets a little difficult to reach and look out for the fort, but all in all a very nice stay. Recommended for a night's stay.

Room Tip: Swagat room is right next to the staff area so calling them is not really a problem. Neelkanth is at...

The Hill Fort Kesroli (Fort converted to a boutique Hotel) is a lovely place for a weekend getaway, close to Delhi. Please take the Delhi-Alwar highway through Bhiwadi and avoid the Sohna Road-Alwar route, which has some 100 destructive speedbrakers which has caused damage to my car. Try the rooms on the first floor (Sitara or Hindola) which are majestic, has excellent sit out terraces and a wonderful view of the surroundings. The food is ok, the swimming pool is well maintained and the staff are very well trained and friendly. Sitting out on the private terrace in the evening with drinks and snacks was a delight. The overall experience was very different and the place is highly recommended for a day or two.

I wish to thank the hotel staff at Kesroli and Delhi for ensuring to return a personal folder which I inadvertently left behind at the resort.

Room Tip: Please take the Delhi-Alwar highway through Bhiwadi and avoid the Sohna Road-Alwar route, which has...

Good weekend break . Not very far off from Delhi and gurgaon. Quite but very enjoyable place . Nice pool . Good food . Only drawback it's position on google map is wrong and if u switch on GPRS you apt to reach wrong place . It's far off from crowd and hassle bustle of city life . You come back after relaxation and rejuvenation. It's not a big property like neemrana fort and hotel but this place has its own charm . Hill on which it is located is very small . Location of the fort offers it a very advantageous place . U go anywhere inside the fort u see green fields all around . The staff is very helpful and courteous . Recommended property for a weekend .

Room Tip: Good rooms .

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The fourteenth century Hill Fort-Kesroli is one of the oldest heritage hotel sites in India ! Sited atop the rare, dark Hornstone Breccia rocks, you live among the security of splendid 700 year old walls which rise steeply to two hundred feet. You can enjoy the changing agrarian views of fields of mustard, millet and wheat. Kesroli makes an ideal base to visit the neighbouring palaces, museums, natural sites and sanctuaries of Alwar and Sariska. The origins of the seven-turreted Hill Fort-Kesroli are traced back to over seven centuries. It is believed to have been built by the Yaduvanshi Rajputs, who claim descent from Lord Krishna, but converted to Islam in the mid-fourteenth century to be called Khanzadas. The restoration process started in the year 1995 and the Hill Fort has been open to guests since 1998. Its interior gardens – both in the Mardana and the Zenana quarters are refreshing and intimate, framing the tent of sky above. A stunning pool rides over the view and leads to the restaurant turret. Kesroli also has facilities to confer in large or small rooms hidden below the ramparts. The duplex rooms are ideal for families with children as they offer them the excitement of a fort-destination. ... more   less
