This fabulous fort was well worth the mad taxi drive that we endured...the roads were hellish due to the upgrading. However the fort was amazing. The food and service was great. I loved the home made icecream and panir. The pools looked lovely, one was being repared and the other looked spotless but too cold at that time of year to tempt us in, (we had 2 night in February). We had a ride down the zip slides "flying fox". The instructions and safety were very reassuring and the guides were delightful. Plenty of wild life around to sit and watch whilst enjoying a drink and a quiet read.

After reading several reviews and based on my sister's opinion (who lives in Gurgaon) we decided to go to Nimrana Fort Palace for 1 night stay. We arrived a little bit after lunch (around 2:30pm or so) - decided to stay at Vaan Mahal (again based on recommendation here on trip advisor). Unfortunately the pool was out of service and that was a big bummer!!! There was another pool at the upper level and we decided to take the kids there -- the water was freezing cold (agreed it was February, but the weather was warm and sunny). I think a luxary resort like this should have heated pool or atleast a hot-tub -- that was very disappointing.
Next we ordered evening snacks -- ofcourse food in India is amazing (so we are kind of biased about that since we don't live there anymore). Later on in the evening we decided to go for the vintage-car ride --- the driver was very nice and took us around the village and some shopping (for my wife).
For dinner, I was very disappointed that the ONLY option was a buffet and since we had late snacks, we were not hungry and just decied to have a bottle of wine instead. By 10pm the dinner place closed down and there was absolutely no food/drinks available after that -- again to me this is unacceptable. We were there for a relaxing vaccation and lack of food/drinks after 10pm is not my idea of leisure travel.

Overall this was a good concept - converting a fort into a hotel. But terribly disappointed, mainly because we are used to 'luxary resorts' in Mexico/Caribbean which are truly a luxary with all sorts of ammeneties. Nimarana fort fails to live up to that comfort level.

Another note: the place is not at all kids friendly (again by western standards) but I won't hold it against the hotel. My main reason for 2 stars is for the price (which is double of what we pay in Mexico/Caribbean) the level of comfort/luxary is non-existent.

Room Tip: Vaan Mahal is good if the pool is functioning.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your valuable review about the Neemrana Fort-Palace heritage resort near Delhi.

We are pleased to learn that you thoroughly enjoyed the vintage car ride.

Since the property is tiered over 12 levels with hanging gardens and terraces, it is not as simple to manage as a modern corridor room hotel with guest and service elevators. To ensure quality service by our team, we are therefore obliged to make some systems – especially regarding the meal timings as the area of the Fort-Palace is vast.

The Neemrana philosophy is different from hotels where modern- day amenities are given priority over ambience and old-world charm. At Neemrana, we try and strike a balance between the two so that the past is not completely obliterated. We have never claimed to be a star-rated hotel. We believe that our discerning travellers leave home to taste the 'difference' and seek authenticity rather than faked luxury.

With respect to your feedback about being child-friendly, please note that Neemrana offers camel cart rides, vintage car rides, and various other indoor games. Apart from the two outdoor swimming pools, a table tennis facility and a self-guided multimedia tour has also been recently added to increase the choice of activities for children.

Warm Regards,
Team Neemrana

This is a 15th century castle offering several great sounding amenities that we did not have time to explore, as well as an audio-guided tour of the fort itself. Called a non-hotel hotel, staying here is a romantic fantasy land. While the evening dinner on the high hillside terrace was a buffet, the food was very good and the ambiance was calm, quiet and quite spectacular. Definitely one of the most fantastic places to stop on the way between Delhi and Jaipur.

I stayed at the Neemrana fort palace for one night with my husband in September, 2012. The drive from Gurgaon takes close to 4 hrs and the roads are as good as they get in India. Since we were staying on a Friday and it was not too crowded we were upgraded to the Panna Mahal from the Garud Mahal (our orignal booking). Upgrades are always happy starters and thus our stay obviously started off on a good note. The suite was very charming as the the two rooms were connected by a quaint little private terrace overlooking the hillocks. Perfect with a mesh of creepers above and a couple of iron garden chairs and a table. The entire property was delightful and charming with its hanging gardens and numerous mysterious stairwells spiralling into nothingness! Because of the various levels and segments of the property you hardly bump into other guests and at times you do feel like you own the place :D The staff were quite courteous and the place very clean. A Rajasthani folk song&dance show had been organized in the evening. It was not great since the dancer was only a little boy who ought rather be studying or playing. Dinner was good as was breakfast but we felt that the essence of Rajasthani cuisine was lost in trying to cater to the foreign clientele. The western dishes were not great and it may be better to stick to Indian cuisine. Overall experience was very good and relaxing. Would love to go back.

We are pleased to learn that you thoroughly enjoyed your stay in the Panna Mahal suite.

Your compliments about the cleanliness and the hospitality have been conveyed to the Neemrana team.

With reference to your feedback about the cultural performance, please note that the Rajasthani group were itinerant singers. However, we have settled them in the nearby Neemrana village and ensure that the parents send their children to school during the day.

We thank you for your visit and look forward to welcoming you back soon.

hi readers, we stayed here sometime in early jan'13(sorry for a late review) and we had amazing experience at the fort. and the best time ever we cud have spent with friends. initially make a booking with the lajpat nagar office was troublesome coz there was no answer.we then landed up at the khan market office where we met a young lady who took pains to make us understand the different mahals and as per our requirements we were suggested to take the rath mahal. this was a suite on top high end of the fort, near the new pool.cozy, and comfortable room , awsome view of the village from the sun terrace.
we did the zipping ,which was fun , and used the spa also(it was a weekday so there wasnt much crowd at the pool and spa) . the food was delicious.we understand that neemrana buffet is not fancy but becoz they cook fresh the food was tasty and fingerlicking. we liked the souffle and home made vanilla icecream(yumm). the dinner was sumptous in the open lawns, looked amazing in the night. we ere 4 friends who met after 2yrs, and had loads to share and talk. no other place except neemrana cud have given us that memorable stay. the staff was very friendly and helpful. all our needs were taken care of,even a special cake was given the next day (on our last minute request) for my best friends bday surprise.we enjoyed collecting a few tit-bits from the shop in the corner near the entrace gate..the feel of royal princesses was given to us at the time of booking,checkin- and checkout..we loved everybit..i hope we get a chance to travel to these properties more often ,and i wish to try the other mahals too.it was a nicely maintained heritage hotel(non-hotel hotel as we were explained ).we cudnot take the vintage ride and the audio tour coz time was short and many things were to be done...anyways.... thank you team and well done!! best wishes, kritika /vedika/swati and paavni..

We stayed at Neemrana (couple) for two nights. It was for a relaxed break from our hectic lives - the first surprise for me was how quickly we reached from Delhi.. due to good roads the 2 hour drive materialised in no time!

It is difficult to find the entrance though - thanks to our travel agent's rented cab, we were able to get through this narrow lane who no one would imagine to be the passage to this fort.

On arrival you are immediately transported to a different world - the fort entrance and very steep walk to the Reception area, the staff dressed in traditional dresses, you cross the rocky roads, pass the vintage car (available for drive though we did not opt for it), and the breath taking view that I am sure every review for this propoerty will say a lot about.

The stay was in the Heera Mahal which is a small cozy room good for a couple but would not like to stay there again - it was a bit too open for me - windows and doors on both sides and the curtains do not cover the entire areas which is a bit worrying keeping in mind the privacy. The bathroom too had drainage problems and there were windows all around! We kept hearing voices (staff and guests walking past) which again is a bit worrying in terms of privacy.

The dining is only available in one huge terrace - at different levels having a splendid view on one side and always buffet. The food was excellent and service wonderful - even when the entire area was fully occupied.

We enjoyed the walk around and weather was wonderful (mid March) and evenings were cool though we needed the AC in the room.

Now the challenges:

Being a fort property you have to walk steep areas so not recommended at all for aged memebers of the family.

There is no room service so carry some snacks!

Rooms are old and equipment too

Spa has limited options and have very expensive therapies;

Service from Reception not the best (dont expect calls to be answered very soon or things to be delivered anytime soon).

Overall:

Worth a visit or more - I would surely go back again and probably stay in a better room - though options are limited if you want to be near the eating area otherwise you would have to walk a lot.

My ratings are not great individually for service but for property and keeping in mind the challenges I have stated above, if you go in with that expectation, you would surely enjoy.

Room Tip: Try for rooms that are near the eating area - pool;

Neemrana fort is a suitable place to come out of your hectic work schedule and have a small breather in lap of heritage surrounded by small hills and a small village. I would recommend you not go there in summer as the Rajsthan heat will take the fun out of your trip. Evenings are beautiful there, do not miss the evening tea out of your room to enjoy the lovely sunset. They make special arrangements to entertain clients after sunset - like Rajasthani music with dance in evening with light snacks. Do not go there just as a visitor, as you will have to pay a hefty amount just for entry and you will have many limitations - Like you need to come out before 5 PM, you can not enjoy the pool area.

Room Tip: Ask for pool facing rooms !

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your valuable review about the Neemrana Fort-Palace heritage resort near Delhi.
We are pleased to learn that you had an enjoyable stay at the property and were able to relax and rejuvenate.

As you have mentioned, ideally, Neemrana is best enjoyed in an overnight stay, since the sunset, the night illuminations and the moon-star nights on your terrace or balcony, can't be enjoyed in a quick day tour.

We thank you for your visit and look forward to welcoming you back soon !

Built since 1464 CE, on a plateau of the two billion year old Aravalli ranges, this 14-tiered property sprawls across 10 green hectares / 25 acres.
