“Incredible, best stay in India!”
Reviewed January 17, 2013 via mobile

Stayed in the room Parvati Mahal for 2 nights. The setting is like a fairy tale and the fort has been beautifully and tastefully restored (with character still remaining). The service was by far the best service we've had in our travels through India, the restaurant and food and beverage staff in particular were fantastic.

There is a set buffet for dinner (and lunch) which is great value and delicious, just make sure you are hungry. Food is good quality and tasty and offers local dishes plus food like pasta and chicken soup for the homesick. The chef is at your service and walking around which gives it a nice personal touch. Cocktail hour offers some traditional dancing.

If your budget allows, this is where to come for 1 or 2 nights either to or from Delhi and if you are looking for a bit of respite away from the bustle of India. There is not much to do outside the fort however but time flies just being inside.

Although high end when it comes to accomodation, it truly is great value and if our experience is anything to go by you won't be disappointed.

Note before you continue reading. I haven't visited the place yet.

I have been just trying to book this hotel but the experience is really horrible. They have a lot of numbers mentioned on their websites ranging from an office in delhi to a few on the property itself. Its the middle of a day on a monday and all their numbers are either unanswered or they are disconnecting calls after a couple of rings.

Don't expect good service with a place where they don't value the booking process.

Hopefully this feedback reaches them and helps them improve their customer experience.

Room Tip: Not been there yet. Please ignore the ratings.

I had stayed at the Neemrana Fort in 1994 and again in Jan 2013 at the end of a wonderful trip through Rajasthan. It saddened me to see how the hotel has changed (for the worse). New extensions have been made while trying to copy the style of the older Fort, sadly this takes away from the beauty of what was once a wonderful hotel. On our sojourn through Rajasthan we came across newly built fort hotels and these were presented as such.

I would not go back to this hotel as it has (sadly) lost it's charm. The only bright spot of our stay at the hotel was the flying fox zipping.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your feedback about the Neemrana Fort-Palace. We are writing to address your concerns.

Although each guest is entitled to their own view, but perhaps, here are some thoughts for you. India is the only living civilization in the world – and the reason for this is that we do not just sit on our past, but rather turn our back to it. Which is why a traveller to the court of Aurangzeb had commented that the entrance to every Indian city is strewn in ruins because everyone wants to build in their name and no one wants to look after the work of their ancestors, forgetting that their buildings await the same fate ! At Neemrana we have tried to reverse that logic but also to contribute more. The whole Fort-Palace was not built at one go, but has had 548 years of a need-based organic growth.

Even when you stayed at Neemrana in 1994, much of what you lived in was not there and had been recreated. There were lesser gardens and no pools etc. In order that such a gigantic property, now outside its feudal fold, can be maintained with such a large local staff from the neighbouring village, presupposes that it should be made usable throughout the year.
The fact that we have been even nominated for the Aga Khan Award, the highest architectural honour, keeps all this in mind. Round-the year viability and comfort. The original fort had no toilets, but holes in the projected parapets. With time, change must come. This is what demands an inventive revitalization rather than just a purist restoration.

The Neemrana fort was built for defense and warfare, beginning in 1464. We have tried to reverse its original purpose and make it welcoming. We believe that we need to go beyond the monuments which we take on, and reverse their purpose : from keeping people out to welcoming them in ! An additional wing now houses two outdoor pools and health spa, an amphitheatre, hanging gardens, and private courts. There is also a restaurant with a roof-top garden, 3 conference rooms and many special suites.

Some guests enjoy staying in the oldest 15th century wing, the Jait Mahal, with narrow, vaulted roofs. But many guests find them too claustrophobic ! We have had to pierce tiny windows in them to bring in light.

We do hope that the above explanation has helped address your concerns. Do feel free to contact us at the email address mentioned below for any further information. We thank you for your visit and look forward to welcoming you back soon !

Warm Regards,
Team Neemrana

This fort has been one of the highlights of our visit to India - perfectly suited for a world-class resort. It was included as part of our trip package, but we didn't know what we were in for. When we arrived, we couldn't be more pleased. The service is excellent, the food is delicious and the facilities is beautiful. Can't recommend it enough!

The place is very unique in terms architecture and surroundings.
The main attraction here is this hotel itself. Interesting time travel as you stroll through the entire property. The beautiful old architecture is matched by equally beautiful plants and flowers over the entire place. In the vicinity there is really nothing else so from check-in to check-out you basically spent time on this property.
Very quiet at night.
The breakfast and the dinner was really good with a variety of cuisine.
The staff was helpful.

We had a huge suite with a big terrace. The view over the village and to the Palace was great, as well as to discover all the hidden places within this Fort. Very good food and service. Also the SPA is remacable but in Winter a little bit cold.

Room Tip: Dont save monney, just go ahead with one of the amazing suites!

We came to Neemrana for a wedding on 30th Dec. Its a good 2hr drive from Delhi and once we got there we had to walk up a short hill because we had come by bus and the last stretch was not accessible by large vehicles. If you come in a saloon car, you should be fine though. The rooms take you back into time, but have all the modern day amenities (hot water, wifi, etc). We stayed in The room Kesar Mahal which as really nice; it had 2 rooms with two full beds even though we only needed one - so this is good if you are coming with a small family. The views are breathtaking and you can indulge in some ziplining over the fort while you are here. They also have some great pools that look over the city at the bottom of the hill. The food was also superior. As a wedding destination it was magnificent.

Only issue was guest treatment - when it came time for checkout, the man who came to clean the room opened the door and walked a good way into the room - my husband was showering and luckily i had just finished dressing up. It was scary especially since there has been a huge rape case in Delhi that has caught worldwide Attention. at mealtimes, the buffet staff would serve the people behind me before they served me - which I found disconcerting especially since those guests asian and caucasian to my african. Not saying that they are racist, but it makes you wonder..... At checkout they also gave me the wrong change and acted like I was the one who was causing a problem because I had no small denominations. Not all the staff were like this - the manager and his partner were really nice and helpful.

So generally I would say amazing location and place - great for lovers and for adventures with a family, but the non-managerial staff (cashiers, waiters, room cleaners) are arrogant, rude and can spoil your experience.

Im sorry i didn't take any pictures of the room.
