“Nice place”
Reviewed January 18, 2013

A nice place to stay in place like Alwar. We were there for two nights 15th & 16th Jan'13. A clean and decent place. Good size rooms. Club suit was comfortable with clean bathroom and bed, however you can hear sound from the adjacent room which at night can be disturbing. Staff was very courteous. In room dining experience was good. The restaurant was nice with limited choice of breakfast
However, there is ample room for improvement. Small things like, the room had only one mug kept by side of tea kettle, every morning we had to ask for extra cup/mug. Only one bottle of water was kept in room which was not replaced the next day. Welcome sweets were two thin and tiny pieces of milk cake, no fruits etc etc.
Overall stay was comfortable and I will not mind staying again.

We stayed here for a short stint on Dec 20th, 2012. We knew we were to arrive late. This hotel seemed perfect choice, for the chain brand name.
Anyways, the hotel lived up to its expectation - clean and decent.
The room service left a lot to desire, and the kitchen was kind to take our order, post 10:30 pm as well.
The morning breakfast spread was sumptuous however, the staff seemed to be stretched and the service could do with improvement - in terms of time of delivery. Coffee came post completion of breakfast.

Driver accomodation was arranged by the hotel - nice gesture.

Will like to stay again !

Room Tip: There is construction underway at a lot of places, just around this hotel... choose your arrival tim...

We were in town on business and this hotel was perfect for our needs. The place was clean and well laid out. We were there in the dead of summer and only lost power a couple of times for a very short period. The free wireless was a bonus, and the mini fridge was stocked with large bottled water for a modest price. The hallways were narrow and dark during the day, but that wasn't an issue. The restaurant had pretty good food in a nice, classy atmosphere.

We were in Alwar for a meeting and did not have many choices for staying. We were recommended the Clarks Inn by friends with the disclaimer that it is decently located but that's about it. On hindsight, I actually agree with this disclaimer. It's located such that its the very first building in the place called Shanti Kunj, and so can be easily located by someone from out of town. The other features about the hotel are that they are good only when compared to the facilities generally available in Alwar. The room we got on the fourth floor was always difficult to locate since the lobby was perpetually shrouded in darkness - the lights are normally kept in switched off mode unless someone complains. We had a small kid with us so we naturally asked for a no-smoking room. However, for the entire two days we stayed at the hotel, the room would reek of cigarette smoke as if the central airconditioning unit had a common vent with a smoking room. Other than that, the room size was decent with an LCD and a mini bar. The room service was abymsal. Around 6 pm, there was a knock by the room service guy - who grinned ear to ear while handing me a small shrink-wrapped dish with a single cookie and a barfi, this was their idea of a welcome 'cookie'. I asked the guy that I didn't have any coffee/milk/sugar satchets and would he please get me some. He nodded vigorously and promptly re-appeared with two milk satchets. I repeated myself that I was also looking for some coffee and sugar satchets. The guy left and then for 30 minutes, when there was no action, I called the room service on their intercom. This time a guy came with a single satchet of Nescafe seeing which I lost my cool and called up the room service to complain. I was expecting an apology but was instead, admonished for "not being clear with my instructions, sometimes you want coffee, sometimes you want tea, you need to make up your mind". This minor skirmish aside, the restaurant on the ground floor seems to be a popular joint for outsiders as well since when we went for our dinner, it seemed to already quite full and lively with some live ghazals in the background. The food (chicken, daal, veggies) was tasty, the portions were small, and we ended up having to re-order our dishes since we clearly underestimated how small the portions would possibly be. Next day's breakfast was average fare with a long wait for hot parathas to arrive and an overall limited menu size. The hotel is otherwise zero on entertainment with no swimming pool, spa or fitness center. I may not come back to the hotel if given a choice unless the hotel were to really invest in doing some major facelifting and staff training.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the road don't have much of a view except for a deserted looking road in front...

I wasn't expecting anything lavish in a place like Alwar - but the experience changed my mind. Although the lobby was nothing exciting, but the rooms were very comfortable and cozy. The service too was very good with the staff always at your attention.

Clarks has a good location in Alwar and is decently priced but looks like a government hotel. Littel attention is paid to hygeine and though we stayed at deluxe room, the stink in the corridor and bathroom took away all the holiday spirit. The staff was courteous and offered us to move to club room that was exactly the same with additional air conditioning. The food in the restaurant was good and so was a live performance.
The worst part was the treatment they gave to the accompanying driver by stuffing him in a room with a cot where 4 guys were sleeping, that too for with 100 Rs tarrif!

Room Tip: Cant say I think all rooms are alike
