I have spent 2 days in this lovely old house in Mount Abu in february 2012.
Everything is just perfect, excellent service and food. Relaxing garden and the place is just out of time.
Best place to stay without any doubt.

On a package tour, I ended up in an enormous suite with wonderful antique furniture and old photos, so I can't vouch for the value. I can endorse the great food and attentive service. On the down side, I sent out laundry in the morning, and it came back unwashed that evening. So I washed it and hung it on a towel rack with an electric heater to speed drying. Then I had to be careful not to turn on too many lights, or I would blow a fuse. However, the staff were diligent in fixing the problem. Lunch in the small garden is a real treat. Delicious and ample dinners were served in a dark enclosed dining room.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms in the old building.

We visited Mt. Abu during our trip to Rajasthan. I selected the hotel based on Trip Advisor reviews and also eagerness to stay at Heritage property. And it was upto the mark. The hotel is in vicinity to main market and a nice walk from Nakki Lake. Though small property, it is well maintained and the food is excellent. The heritage building gives you nostalgic feeling and it is a great experience.

This property owned by the Maharaja of Jodhpur is a wonderful find. Ask to stay in the original building, which we did. Our room was more like a suite. It was very spacious and beautifully decorated. The staff was attentive and the gentleman running the hotel was most helpful with ideas on what to do and had lots of interesting stories. The dining room in the original building is where we took our meals. Every meal was excellent and so relaxing to eat in our own home, so to speak.

Room Tip: Ask for the original building as the new one is really just standard hotel rooms.

We had booked this hotel since its a part of Welcomeheritage group and we are a fan of ITC hotels. This hotel belongs to Maharaja of Jodhpur and this is his smallest property. The heritage building has 5 rooms and the architecture is typical British architecture. The newer building has another 5 rooms but built in standard Indian hotel room style
We stayed in the heritage part. All the 5 rooms are different and unfortunately for us we got the room which is on the outside verandha and it seemed to be the smallest of the rooms. However the room had a bedroom, a changing room and a bathroom. Basic amenities were there in the room. The decor was typical old British style. Bathroom was neat and clean.
A lot of people had complained about service. However we found the service to be top notch. There is a common dining room with a table for 10 people. So during dinner different guests sit across the table and its a good place to meet with new people. This is something that never happens in bigger hotels. The food is home cooked and is prepared as per your instruction. I would recommend to stick with Indian food here which is their strength. The food is prepared hot and served while you eat and as per your instruction. Its like a home away from home.
The property is nice with lot of greenery. The lawns could be better maintained, particularly when you see the lawns of the neighboring Kishangarh House.
The good thing about this property is that it is located near the taxi stand and market. So getting a vehicle is never a problem. Check in and Check out was very smooth.
If you have a kid, there are lawns and swings for them to play. Other than that there isnt much to keep them occupied.
Overall its a good hotel and would recommend it.

I visited Mount Abu on a week end trip from Ahmedabad in the first week of April this year . I had selected the Hotel based on the Trip Advisor reviews and yes - Connaught House was indeed upto it . The Hotel is situated just 5-7 minutes from the main center of Mount Abu and a 12-15 minute walk from the Nakki Lake jetty . However if you have a family having elderly members it is quite an uphill task and you will definitely need your transport . The Cottage that we stayed had a private sit out and since my teenage daughter had joined us from Bangalore they had put up an extra bed which was very helpful . The Manager Mr.Ajay Bhatt is one of the most helpful managers that I have seen and made us feel absolutely at home right from the introduction to our send off . He leads a fantastic team of staff who are more than happy to take care of your needs . The rooms are quanit and the sit outs in the lap of nature are heavenly . THe only improvement I felt could be done is that some more variety can be added to the food since it makes sense to dine at Connaught House only and if you are a non veggie like me Mount Abu does not have too much of choices . For lunch if you dont mind the ambience Sher E Punjab in the Main Market has the best of Chicken and Mutton - their Bitter Chicken is mindblowing . Overall I would definitely recommend Connaught House for a short week end at Mount Abu

Room Tip: Go for the rooms with the Private Sit outs
