“A good place to relax!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

If you can stay in the old 'heritage' part of the hotel, the rooms are spacious, comfortable and well-appointed - and those facing the garden, with conservatory, are great! we stayed adjacent to our friends and were able to open the adjoining doors to make one big social space overlooking the private garden - lovely! Mount Abu can get quite busy but Connaught House is tucked away and secluded from the main 'drag' yet only a few minutes to wander down to the shops, restaurants and lake. Food was good, yet not over-generous in portions and comparatively pricey. All the waiting staff were very obliging and pleasant but a little clueless about efficient service! wifi was a great bonus, although it's radius doesn't stretch too far from the main reception area. Pretty garden spaces across the campus of the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a garden room in the old heritage part of the hotel....

I stayed at Connaught House from 25th March to 30th March 2013. We were in cottage no. 6. It is a very big accommodation with two rooms , two bathrooms and two LCDs. The rooms are well kept and have wooden flooring. The furniture is very nice and have heritage touch. There is a big sit out in front of the room with chairs and table. You can just sit down and can enjoy the morning tea with your spouse. It is a small property with only 10 nos. of cottages. The heritage character of the property has been well maintained. There is a good collection of novels which one can read leisurely as per the convenience. This property has the residential staff. So service is quite good and prompt. The property is located quite closed to the nakki lake and the main market of Mount Abu but it is far from the routine disturbances of the market place.
The only problem I feel is the food. The complementary breakfast is good though there is not too much of variety. That is quite understandable as there are only ten rooms. But the main meals are very rich and overpriced too. Mr. Arun Bhat along with his team will have to work hard make the food homely. They will have to strike the balance between taste, spices and richness in the food. Our present day life style demands simple but tasty homely food. If this point is resolved by Connught team , I am sure this will be a wonderful place to stay along with the family.

Room Tip: Room no. 1 to 5 are good as far as the heritage characte of the proerty is concerned. Room no. 6 to...

I spent 2 nights here with my brother. We had some initial confusion with our booking - our pick up from Abu Road didn't materialise. However, this was quickly resolved and we found Connaught House to be perfectly located ( quiet and peaceful, but only 10 mins walk from the central market area ) and in beautiful leafy and green surroundings with vibrant flora and birds singing. The guest rooms are stylish and very well equipped, exceptionally spacious and with a superb verandah facing a range of tropical flora and fauna which add hugely to the ambience. All of the staff are from Jodhpur, they are keen to please in a very understated way and we found them very helpful. The hotel's preference is that breakfast and dinner choices are ordered in advance, we thought the food was excellent. The dining room will appeal particularly to those who want space for themselves to share their own company. We chose Mount Abu principally because it was strategically placed on a train journey North to South of India - we were glad we did as the temples are magnificent and the town and lake are pleasant. We also felt that Connaught House was a stylish, attractive and quality option and we would happily return.

Its a beautiful and well kept property. The rooms and bathrooms are very comfortable. The food was also very good. The one thing that needs improvement is staff. They lack training. The dining hall in the main building can be shifted as it is too close to the bedrooms, resulting in disturbance while others are dining.

I stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights along with family and this was my first trip to Mount Abu. I went to this place blindly based on the TP rating and I have to say that it was spot on. While I may not have a view of other hotels in this place, I would really doubt if any of them would offer a better experience. I stayed in Cottage # 6 and it was well appointed and very well maintained. The view from the sit out was also very nice. I have to call out the service staff specifically, they were simply fabulous. In my entire visit they did not say 'no' even once to any of our requests (not that we were coming up with any outrageous ones) but you get the point. The food was prepared on order and they were prepared from the freshest of ingredients.

The location of the hotel is also very nice, one could take a leisurely walk to the market area and nakki lake. The only area that i would say it would score less is in terms of amenities like swimming pool, spa, gym etc. But if these dont play a big factor in your selection criteria blindly choose this place. You cannot go wrong with the choice.

Room Tip: Choose cottage # 10. If not available, choose anyone between 6-10 as they have a nice sit out with g...
