“nice hill station”
Reviewed March 1, 2013

Great place for honeymooners. Lots to see and you can rent a bike, everythings within 20 km.
Great market for handicrafts, lots of different places to visit.
Different types of cuisine available, Ideal for a short visit. Enjoy the drive up to Mt Abu abt 17 km of winding Ghat road.
Pleasant weather.

“Good weather, sights but food is costly and not so good”
Reviewed February 28, 2013

Weather is good, Nakki lake is slightly over rated as cleanness is not maintained in lake. Delwada temple is excellent and must to watch. Lots of hotels for every range. Food quality is questionable as it is much costlier than other places.

“Meditating on a mountain top”
Reviewed February 28, 2013

Just back from Mount Abu, where I visited the Brahma Kumaris Ashram for a meditation retreat.
The mountain is a favorite tourist spot traditionally for the royal families of India, where they went to avoid the heat of the summer. The mountain has many ancient royal palaces around Nakki Lake, the highest one now a very smart hotel. You can visit it just to have coffee, tea or lassi - a traditional yoghurt drink that can be sweet or sour and is very good for your digestion.
Take a boat on the lake - like a punt, with your own man to ferry you around.
Visit Honeymoon Point, where you can look over the flat plains across to Pakistan, if you are lucky enough to get a clear day - I never have. The area is popular with honeymooners. The village market is on the edge of Nakki Lake and is a rainbow feast for the eyes. All the shop-keepers speak some English. Dont forget to bargain as prices will be inflated for the tourists. There are now 2 ATMs in the village - one by Coffee Day - they do a lovely iced Cafe frappe and iced Chocolate with ice cream - very comfortable too. Further up the mountain a visit to Dilwara temple is a must. Built entirely in marble by the Jains it took 14 years to build. The carvings are very intricate - see the yogis sitting around the courtyard in open eyed meditation and the carved ceilings depicting the deities.
Dont walk on the mountain paths alone as there are bears and wild cats roaming around. Also be careful of the monkeys as they can be vicious and give a NASTY BITE. A friend of mine had to have stitches.

“Rajasthan's only hill station”
Reviewed February 2, 2013

We took a road trip to Mount Abu from Mumbai, breaking our journey at Gandhinagar for the night. Mount Abu was bitterly cold....just 2C, but we were well equipped so actually enjoyed the northern winter. The place has become very commercial now, with loads of hotels having sprung up around the vicinity of the Nakki lake, but there is accommodation to suit every pocket and loads of nice eateries.

Apart from the Dilwara temples which is an absolute Must See, do visit the Sunset Point to feast on the gorgeous view of the valley below.

Opposite the Nakki Lake is a small garden where the main attraction is a helium balloon ride for about 10 minutes. A complete rip off, but would still recommend it especially at sunset to watch Mt Abu light up and the reflections in the Nakki Lake.
