We got back from the CretaBlue about a week ago and had a great relaxing holiday. Staff were friendly and worked hard to make your holiday very enjoyable. Lovely pool. Spotlessly clean complex. The only problem we found was that the air conditioning unit was in the bedroom and was too noisy to keep on at night. Restaurants to recommend in the koutalafari village were The Alchemist and Emmanual, The Alchemist was a great restaurant to eat in and a wonderful atmosphere. Emmanual had first class service and great food. The little shop opposite The Alchemist that sells olive oil and soaps is worth a visit as the owner is very welcoming.

My family and I have just returned from a week at Creta Blue, with my brother and his family and we all had a fantastic time. From the moment we arrived to the minute we left we were made to feel very welcome by George, his family and his small team of very hard working staff. Everything is made to make your stay as comfortable, relaxed and stress free as it can be and nothing ever seemed to be too much trouble. The hotel is small but I think that's it's charm as you get the type of personal service that you wouldn't get at the normal holiday resort hotels. We would thoroughly recommend the hotel for anyone looking for a quite and very relaxing break and hope one day we will be able to return. Thanks George!!

My wife and I stayed in the hotel for 1 week with another couple as we were attending a wedding near by. The hotel itself was exactly what we needed, great view, clean & comfortable rooms, and excellent food, however what sets this hotel apart from any other I have ever stayed in is the service.

We arrived after midnight and as soon as we got out of our car we were greeted by a really friendly member of staff who insisted he carry our cases up the very steep hill to our rooms and within 5 minutes of arriving we were sat at the poolside bar with a cold beer in hand which after a long days travelling was exactly what was required. No lengthy check in process, no searching for our room in darkness. It really was a perfect welcome. The two guys that were on duty were really friendly and explained to us we would get to meet the owners at breakfast.

True to their word as soon as we arrived for breakfast we were greeted personally by the owners and throughout our entire stay the service at every breakfast, lunch and just in general was first class. George and his team were so helpful with suggestions for places to go and his family and staff should be proud of what they have in place at Creta Blue it has the quality standards of a large chain with the service and charm of a family run business.

In short. If you are visiting this area of Crete you must stay at this hotel. *****

Room Tip: We were upgraded to room 106. Great room, great view but right at the top of the hill.

Just got back and really wish we were still there. I have stayed in lots and lots of different hotels over the years but I have honestly never been made to feel as comfortable as we were here. It genuinely felt like this was a week spent at a friend's house. How George and the family do this to everyone is a mystery.

We had a deluxe suite for our three teenage daughters and we took the penthouse suite for ourselves. Both rooms were lovely but our daybed on the private terrace was truly blissful to retire to in the afternoons.

The hotel complex is a little out of the village, only by a 5 minute walk, but that proved a little too much for the daughters who preferred to just stay put. We ventured out a couple of nights and tried a couple of the recommended restaurants but Eleni's cooking was too good and in the end we mainly ate in the hotel on the roof terrace restaurant. The peppered steak and the prawn saganaki were particular favourites.

All five of us completely fell in love with the place, and can't wait to return. yes the view from the pool is through wires, and yes the rooms probably aren't 5 star, but really who cares?? Anyone who hassles about that kind of thing is missing the point of this place. It has a bewitching charm of its own, which is really hard to describe although to say that it has a really big heart is probably the closest i can manage. That and an attention to detail by all staff. I loved watching the bar staff polishing the wine glasses until they shone. No slight smudge was allowed to remain which made my day as I love very clean wine glasses. I'm sure it makes the wine taste better!!

If there is availability then just go. It will do your soul good.

Dear Family,
I would like to take the opportunity to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your good words. Your words together with the other guests good comments keeps us going and make us work harder and harder to be better every year. We love our job so much that we feel that we don't work actually. As confucius used to say "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life."

Have a lovely winter and we hope to see you and your family in the near future!!

Great little hotel, reasonable, maybe a little bit of stretch at 4*, recommended

Wasn’t an issue for us as we only used the hotel as an overnight crash-pad, but the daily ritual of booking sunbeds at the crack of dawn with towels was rather amusing.

Positives : +
Clean & spacious (except bathrooms, which are tiny !)
Great View
Great Pool
Free Wifi in bar area
5 mins walk from town, circa 20+ great restaurants/bars + 2 other nearby villiages
Easy parking
Friendly & helpful staff
Mini-kitchen in units
25 mins from Airport/Heraklion

Negatives -
Breakfast only from 9-11am (no alternative offered), best skip if you need to head off early (as we did)
Hard to find, GPS only gets you nearby (ask in town to get directions if needed), narrow access road

Dear Mr&Mrs Kirk,

Thank you for for taking the time to post your review in tripadvisor. I am very happy that the positives are much more then the negatives regarding your stay in our hotel and i am sure that if you were spending more time by the hotel you would have an even better experience.

I hope that you have a healthy and good winter and hope to see you again in the near future!
