“Wave Watching from the Balcony”
Reviewed February 24, 2014

We stayed 3 nights at the end of the whale watching season, the beach is stunning although too rough to swim so we were happy to wave watch.
The Deep is basic accommodation with lots of character and comfortable with hot water available.
Loni and his family are very friendly. Loni took us on an island tour that was most interesting and worth doing.
We had our breakfast and one dinner at The Deep. Do beware that when they call you for a meal it is on the table now.
Also had dinner and lunch at the Hideaway-food was ok .
Suggest you bring your wine and snacks to 'Eua .
We caught the ferry both ways and although windy the trip was enjoyable , do remember your rain jacket as it did rain on the way back.
Overall we were delighted with The Deep and will stay again next time we are in Tonga

We enjoyed our stay here, plenty of rain the first few days, the beach was picturesque through the coconut palms and the sunsets were a delight to watch. The family were very friendly and willing to please. Loni did an Island tour and his son Robert and cousin Nonga acted as our guides. The fale was comfortable and Tony and Eva are working on improving the accommodation and facilities. Had some wonderful whale encounters while out with Sam on his boat from Deep Blue Diving. The food needs a huge reality boost, but basic mostly tuna and chips, or hamburger and chips. We would recommend this as the best place to stay on Eua Island as it has the only beach accommodation, great snorkelling at your door and Loni will give you a lift anywhere. Value for money.

Room Tip: The three fale's with a view 3, 4 and 5. Ask for 4 if it is available, although 3 did have its...

An amazing family run little resort right on the beach. Whales every day and Spinner dolphins too! The people who ran it were delightful. They looked after us, ran us around, organised horse rides, whale watching and cave walks for us, and fed us Tuna almost every night! I would say that it was by far the best place to stay on Eua!!

Room Tip: Three of the Fale's have superb views of the beach! Get one of them.

We were recommended this place because of it's ideal location, and were told we could see whales from the beach. We were delighted this was no exaggeration. Our fale looked out over the ocean and it was a cute little hut. The family that ran the resort arranged a whale watching trip with the local fisherman, which was great and a 4WD trip to the southern end of the island which was heaps of fun.
The food was good, although more variety would be nice and the lounge area was due for a refurbishment, and they were just beginning to build a new common area.

Accommodation was basic, but cheap and value. Just besides the beach, beach is beautiful.
You can even see the whales from the room or TV room.

The reception was simple and very basic building with some broken chair. Most of the time, we didn't care about it. Because we like to stay like the local people.

Owner's family were shy. They served delicious dinner with 15paanga, portion was big.

We booked a day trip with them. And we went to the trip with the whole family except the mothers. It was just awesome! They will stopped suddenly when they saw fruits from the trees. And we had some fresh guava, pink colour inside, and sweet.

The Deep Resort is a beautiful place where we spent a weekend with the family. The sandy beach and deep blue ocean waters are extremely lovely. The cabins, though basic are clean and comfortable. The host is a nice and friendly person who takes care in your comfortable stay at this resort. The food is good especially we relished the delicious dishes served during dinners. We had lots of fun activities at the beach. Swimming and walking on the crowd less beach area was completely serene. We had taken Rammy, our pet dog with us and he simply enjoyed his first trip of this sort.

This place has just been taken over by new owners. Even though it was only partly
open when we stayed, the accommodation was very good by local standards and
Eve, the host looked after us very well. - It is the only accommodation on EUA island
that has a sandy beach directly in front of it.
