A long walk from Sami or space to park if you drive up. Not much to see apart from a pile of stones but good views out across Sami and the sea.

The Acropolis can be reached by a very scenic drive up the mountain from Sami, however, we chose to walk up the mountain through the forest to the Acropolis from the edge of Sami - although the path is well marked it is narrow in places, and would suggest wearing trainers or walking boots. The walk was fantastic, we were followed along the walk with hundreds of beautiful butterflies, it was so tranquil. When the path opened out, the Acropolis ruined buildings could be seen scattered all over the top of the hill, what a tremendous sight. would definitely recommend a visit.

Impressive place to visit. Perfect example how impressive the architecture of ancient Greece was, easily imagine while seeing the size of processed stone blocks. But the most impresive are the hundreds of years old olive trees all around the place. The shapes given by the years is amazing. And again loats of goats all around as everywhere on the island:)

I really loved this place, the views are amongst the best on the island, it's an easy walk though not if you have mobility problems. Your mind will marvel at how they managed to cut the huge stone blocks and get them into place as they did. A little more interpretation would be good but you don' t see much of that on the island and there is one information board. Make sure you follow the paths boh left and right after you enter the 'gate'.

The ruins of ancient Sami (at it's peak between 800 and 500BC) is worth a visit even if it is just for the views. On a clear day you can see across Ithaca to Lefkas and to the mainland. Walk up to the ancient gate and marvel at the symmetry of the stones cut with only basic tools
