“All the visual impact of a motorway service station, but better inside”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

Situated a couple of minutes outside town, hard by a Roman aqueduct and with nice views of the cathedral on its hilly perch, is the Cositel. Outside it is anything but cosy, it's harsh architectural heritage owes more to the M4 than to the comfy, simple clean establishment within.
Our room was clean, quiet and overlooked the smallish garden with its large Koi carp pond.
The food alas had ideas above its station. What we ate was a bit bland, a bit over ambitious and a bit under-achieving. If you want to spend time in this fine French provincial city to admire the cathedral which is well worth spending time on/with, then, by all means stay here - but eat somewhere else.

Attractive modern 2 floor hotel situated in spacious grounds with mature trees, water feature and ample external parking. Stands to the NW of the town close to the ancient aqueduct. Access to city centre by car takes 4 minutes. (Parking both near and in front of cathedral) Bedrooms on ground and 1st floors (no lift). Comfortable and clean room/bath with separate WC. Excellent supper menus at €23 and €34 can be mixed. Standard buffet breakfast.

This hotel is a hotel that I've stayed at many times. Since 1990 infact. Also i've taken freinds and they have liked it. The rooms are quiet and the food hase aways been good. It is a very good area for touring Nornandy, but the town is very good.

The travel agent who made the reservation for me in Logis Cositel , had no real idea of this hotel.
We arrived in the early afternoon, the receptionists were extremely friendly and helpful.
The rooms is more than you would expect from a 2 star hotel, clean, roomy enough and accessible.
The hotel has a nice garden terrace and a large parking.\Would gladly stay there again in an attempt to explore more the region.

Room Tip: If possible avoid the rooms facing the parking. In certain circumstances gan get noisy.

A wonderful view of Coutances's cathedral greats you on arrival. Excellent, ample and well-landscaped car-parking. Friendly reception. Bedrooms have had a bathroom makeover, with showers replacing baths, but the new lighting still makes shaving or applying make-up a bit hit and miss.

The food in the attractive restaurant is only average. But the buffet breakfast features a good fruit salad (with local cream) and Normandy cheese.. If your ideal lunch includes oysters and "moules-frites", then a visit to Coutainville could be worthwhile (Neptune on sea front a good bet).
This is only a 2-star hotel, but you leave with the feeling of having had a good deal.

Due to a late ferry and longer journey than expected we arrived as a coach party at 2.00 a.m. but the receptionist was helpful and charming and spoke perfect English, as did all the staff, even though we tried out our French. The rooms were large, beds comfy and the bathroom in our ground floor room would be suitable for someone disabled. The outdoor terrace was really spacious, with an unusual feature of decking above water channels and a fountain. We ate for two nights in the restaurant and the food was excellent with a good choice of dishes. All in all a very pleasant experience.

Modern, formulaic but provides for all basic needs. Lots of good points - large room, clean, with space for clothes and oddments; plenty of off-road parking, the hotel is out of the town centre; lovely outdoor terrace area for a pre-dinner drink or quiet sit-down, if the weather is fine; the food and wine were acceptable if unremarkable, wide selection of fare for breakfast; very pleasant and helpful staff. The only negative is the lack of character.

Room Tip: Our room on the ground floor was easy access and had a large window on to a garden area. It was qui...
