We were a bit nervous about staying here, since the price is low and the reviews are a bit mixed. But a friend of a friend suggested we try it. We were not disappointed, and in fact, would return again. It's very basic accommodations, and with no swimming pool. If you require lots of amenities, this is not your place. If you are looking to tune out for a few days, and read a book in peace, or explore the area and use this as a nightly base, this is the place for you. You get served all your meals on your private porch, which overlooks the lake and sunsets. The owner stayed up until our very late arrival (I think it was around 11:00 pm), so that we could be served a hot dinner. It's a personal touch not found at 5 stars, and with this price, you'll be pleased. It's a very local place -- the bucket shower provides hot water, but not the spicket from above. But the rooms all have views of the lake, and hammocks in the yard provide a nice way to unwind. The yard is small, though comfortable. In fact, I think the reason we liked this so much is b/c of the pride that the owner takes in his place. He clearly wanted us to have a nice stay, yet understands that his is not a 5 star resort. He seems to have plans to continue to improve the small details, but is not trying to compete with 5 star hotels. He did everything he could to help us get around, too, which was a relief because we wanted to see the area (he hooked us up with boat rides, etc.). I think he's local -- he had lots of stores of the area and the people. The driver they use (I assume they use the same one), was awesome. The rooms are clean enough, though not spotless, but I didn't feel like I couldn't walk around barefoot, or not sleep in the sheets. As to the complaint about there being bugs -- listen, you're in India, and if a few ants get in the room and that bothers you, then stay in Europe or US. Actually, the owner pointed out that we should turn down the porch lights at night so as to avoid attracting bugs. One thing he didn't warn us about, which you should consider, is that you shouldn't walk away from your food when it sits on your balcony. Clever crows wait in the trees, and when I went inside for only a few minutes, one of them swooped down and took my appam!
