Nice room, though the food was strictly ok. Excellent options to go for a house-boat experience as it is next to the backwaters.

This resort was recomende by our friends, and it turned out be a dream come true. We stayed at the Backwater Ripples for 4 nights, We were lost in the beauty of Nature here.
The high light of the trip was on the fish that we caught from the lake was made for dinner without any extra cost. The Ayurveda was also a great experence, the Doctor and the Massuers were to their best.
The sunset cruise and the evening cultural shows were very interesting, as we could learn a bit on the Locale. The Cooking class we were also invited and had also a tasting session. We enjoyed eevery minute of our stay here. The staff were very helfull and had good service throughout.
Good property on the backwaters but not value for money - the rooms are average and so are the facilities
This resort is recommended to me by a friend. I made the reservation direct. Right from the landing in the premises till the departure, the way this resort treated us was beyond explanation.
Professionalism is defined here. The best ever stay we had. The children enjoyed the infinity pool, sunset cruise and the cultural show.
Food was the best and the chef came to us in the restaurant to suggest the seafood. Pearl spot fish we had was so delicious.
We will go there again next year and we strongly recommend this place to all holiday lovers.

The houseboat we were staying on dropped us off at the jetty of Backwater Ripples. It is a smaller scale resort than most and very peaceful. We were booked into a Garden View room but were upgraded to a Lake view Cottage as they weren't very busy. So its worth asking. Pool overlooks the Lake and you can laze around reading a book whilst looking at the houseboats float by. Restaurant is good, not too pricey. They had a bus full of tourists come for one night we were there and they tend to put a buffet on when they are busy but the a la carte menu seemed better. The bird sanctuary is worth a visit, you can get a tuk tuk easily there yourself without using the hotel trip. They put on a complimentary boat ride round the lake too. Internet access and a small shop. Lovely welcome with jasmine and fresh fruit juice. Very relaxing and not a great deal to do in the surrounding area but ideal for a few days of relaxation.
Kumarakom was my third stopover in kerala during my honeymoon. First being Poovar & Kovalam.
Personally i had a huge expectation from Backwater ripple (BWR) after being pampered in resort in poovar & Leela kovalam, as the room cost in BWR was more than the other resorts/ hotel stayed during my HM.
We took almost 1 hour extra to reach the resort as there was no sign board directing us. The receptionist forgot to present the welcome drink (though we were not that thirsty). Cost of room just do not match the quality of room. The resort was clean and they arranged for a tradition dance show (Mohiniattam).
The food was ok (would say below average). Quite surprising, they couldn't serve alcohol as they don't have licence to do so. (same can be served in the room), but the joy of sipping good drink near the vembanad would have been different.
The view of the lake is awesome (But thats something which is true for all resort alongside the lake).
If i visit kumarakom again i would definately look for a alternate resort.
PS: Some room pics & some real good view of lake.
