Reviewed March 24, 2011

I took a vacation after 4 years. The life was getting full of pressure and vivanta by Taj- kumarakom was the exact medicine- which i required. My suppleir awarded me this vacation and the agent did all teh right things. The hotel was great. simply great. They were very caring, and showed great tolerance to my naughty son.All of 22 months old- he kept making freinds and chasing the hotel staffs- and they were very tolerant. The food was great. My wife loved the breakfast the most.Hotel people were always very accomodating- even if it was our request for hot milk- upteen times for my son. The great activities arranged by Ravi, the sunset was very enjoyable and the complimentary- backwater cruise was most enjoyable. The side trips- to kollam and kochi were enjoyable too. The drivers of hotels were also very good. I will like to go there again- when i have my next vacation

Dear Guest,

Thank you for the wonderful feedback that you have provided.
We strongly believe that if the children are taken care of during the holiday, then the vacation of the parents are made.Thereby we do everything possible at our end to make the children comfortable and more often than not they are extremely comfortable in the open settings that we have in this resort.
We are glad you enjoyed all aspects of your stay .We do look forward to welcoming you back in the near future

Thanks and regards

We visited Vivanta by Taj in Feb2011, booked it directly on their website being their innercircle member.
First of all I would like to say once again we were indeed very impressed by Taj Kumarakom as they exceeded our expectations. We were thrilled to be there and stay in this property. Referring to all the excellent reviews and description of hotel in their website I can confirm that this is exactly as detailed. We stayed here for 4 nights and had the best holiday ever.
The property is about 2hrs drive from Cochin airport and 45mins drive from Alleppey beach. The property is set in a vast land covered with green, coconut/banana trees, shrubs, on the shores of Lake Vembanad making it ideal for families and honeymoney couples. Even though the Taj has a lot of land but they only have 28 cottages to give you the feel of individuality. All the cottages overlook the lagoon or the lake. Houseboat can also be arranged by Taj and there is also a local houseboat jetty nearby.
Our cottage was superb with lagoon view and a private sit out that overlooked the lagoon with a waterfall. The cottages are roomy, with nice deco, all amenities, tea/coffee, plasma tv, ac, fan and the bathroom has a shower as well as a bath tub with lots of toiletries. We loved to sit out for morning tea and hear birds chirping, very peaceful experience. The hotel provides free evening sunset cruise followed by tea and snacks while enjoying the sunset on the shore of Lake Vembanad. The hotel also offers free bicycles for the stay, our daughter loved it. The hotel also has a recreational staff who is very friendly to all the children and provides complementary activities like fishing, boating, rabbit feeding, pottery classes, etc that kept our daughter busy every day and gave us that spare time to enjoy our stay. There is lot to do if you want to but you will never be bored in this hotel as they also have evening entertainment during evening meal, local folks dance, etc. Our 7yrs old daughter loved all of it. In the evening the whole place is lit with oil lamps which make it even more beautiful at night.
The Taj staff once again restored our confidence with their politeness, service, and professionalism. From management to catering to housekeeping to reception, everyone well looked after us, all our needs were met and there was one minor hiccup that was taken care of immediately.
Overall we were really very happy with our stay and the staff and would definitely go back and definitely recommend Taj Kumarakom to all.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for the great feedback you have provided regarding your stay with us.We are really glad that you had a memorable time with us.Your feedback will help a lot of travellers who are planning to visit the destination.
As you rightly pointed out,we have indeed kept it small here, the reason being the abundance of nature. Also as you correctly mentioned,we have filled up the resort with activities so that both adults and youngsters have a good time.Hence we have something in store for people of every age.
We look forward to welcoming you back so that we could be of service to you again in the near future.

Thanks and regards
Sibi Mathew

We stayed at the Taj for 2 nights at the end of a 16 day tour around Kerala and was surprised to see a guard on the gate and barbed wire completely surorunding the resort, which seemed a little excessive. We had a Lagoon facing room which was a good size and stylishly decorated with a nice bathroom. It seemed a shame that the main part of the resort (pool, restaurant etc) was quite 'inward facing' rather than taking advantage of a beautiful lakeside spot, but we went on the complimentary boat trip for an hour or so to see the lake.

The food was good, if a little westernised, but very expensive by Indian standards. There was a very good selection at the breakfast buffet though so fill up on this! Overall we had a pleasant stay but as a resort it doesn't really give a feel of Kerala.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your feedback about your stay with us.
The reason you see the resort having become completely fenced is because we have become very security conscious in the recent past. This step is only for the better safety of our guests in the troubled times that we live in.
Nevertheless,we are glad that you did enjoy your stay with and thank you for making a mention about the breakfast. It is our effort to inculcate as many local items in the spread to be able to give the guests a local experience
We do hope that you will come back to the destination and our resort very soon

Thanks and regards
Sibi Mathew

Never before have I experienced such perfection. From the moment I arrived at the jetty, I was met by a staff member, my bag whisked away. A fresh coconut juice, a bicycle brought to my villa, complimentary activities - local village walk, sunset cruise, masala tea and savouries, an Indian dance and music performance, the lighting of 700 candles around the lake. It was unbelievable. Never have I received such service, from the doctor offering to devise a massage and relaxation program, to the General Manager checking with all guests to ensure we were enjoying their stay, to the chef offering to provide me with a cooking demonstration. My regret was that I was here for such a short time. I should have chosen this hotel at the centrepiece of my trip to India and spent a week relaxing here. And the Villa with rooms so delightful. A garden hammock, outdoor chairs, a private plunge pool and walk out tropical garden bathroom. A four poster bed and lounge/study area. Chocolates and flowers everywhere. For solo travellers, for a romantic holiday, for a family reunion - there is no better place. It is a place of dreams and unforgettable memories.

For us stays at the Taj Malabar have been stop-overs. However, I have to say that the first visit and upgrade to such a gorgeous suite, made us reluctant to leave, and even looking forward to the stop-over at the end of the trip

The hotel has a lovely setting on the lake (as long as you look toward Fort Cochin that is) I watched the sunset over Fort Cochin from my balcony which is one of my favorite moments of the holiday, the photos were stunning

Our very first meal in India was at this hotel which was very memorable, the food is very good whether its poolside snacks or restaurant meals

I'd stay again with out hesistation

My family with teenager kids and parents loved the Alice in Wonderland feel there. The warmth of the staff and the serenity undisturbed with hundreds of diyas in the evening by the lakeside were enough to mesmerize us and made us spellbound for 3 days. The surprise Birthday cake and a bouquet was heart-touching.
