By far the best experience I have had in a resort. I had gone there as part of my honeymoon for 3 nights in May 2012. The resort is breathtakingly beautiful once you are inside and service is class apart. Over all experience of service was really good and the staff makes you very comfortable with their ever smiling faces. We had the bookings for Meandering Pool Villas but were upgraded to Heritage Lake view Villa with a private pool for reasonable charges. The room was quite amazingly located by the pool which itself was overlooking the lake. The Private pool with Jacuzzi and the villa as a whole was extremely comfortable for a honeymoon couple. Even though the Villa was connected with other Villa, they have made sure the privacy is completely taken care of.

The best part about this resort is its food. They server some amazing varieties of food for each meals. Being a vegetarian, I was never short of options for food and always had the option of getting anything prepared fresh if you wish. Activities inside the Hotel were also great and enough to kill your spare time and have fun.

Now some negatives: Lizards, Lizards, Lizards,.. If you are scared of them, you will spot them everywhere. Even though its a nature resort, I wish they could have taken some extra care to keep them out. You simply cant go to Private pool at night if these creatures annoy you. Some other insects that bites can be found around the resort after sunset. Also, there is simply nothing other than resort in Kumarakom [Bird century is useless]

Overall, A must go for couples.

Room Tip: If you are in group, choose Meandering Pool Villas as all the rooms are interconnected with same poo...

Every trip to India should include a trip down to the backwaters of Kerela. One of my favorite party of my trip was my time at Kumarakom. Excellent property that offer a once and a lifetime experience. Every stay to this property must include a stay in the houseboat. I believe the property has 8 houseboats - so be sure to book early enough to take advantage of this awesome experience. The property it self is gorgeous - lush, tropical, authentic experience. First, the rooms, if you have an option opt for a private pool room rather than the big shared pool. The private pool rooms are perfect to kick back enjoy some music and lounge for a few hours. The room also offers an outdoor bathroom, with an awesome rain shower. Second the amenities - the property offers a bunch of included/free activities that you should be sure to take advantage of - everything from pottery spinning to basket weaving. Grab a bike and take a ride through town. Third the food - best part of the trip. Can be summed up in three words - authentic, bold, and fresh. Great flavor with traditional indian spices and fish right from the lake caught hours before they hit your plate. Lastly the houseboat - this is an absolute must. The trip usually starts at noon each houseboat comes with a chef, driver, and waiter. You select a menu for lunch and dinner before you get on and the food just keeps coming. Your driver will take you through the narrow channels and canals where you will get a peak at life on the backwaters. The driver will most likely stop at a local fisherman shop on the water, but be sure to mention it when you get on, You'll get greeted my local fisherman that will show you prawns bigger than lobsters. For about 8-10$ US, you can pick out 2 of these prawns and your chef will cook them up for you as you continue your cruise through the canals. If your lucky enough to go during monsoon season - chances are you'll experience a downpour. This is a good thing believe me. What an experience to travel through the backwaters and the rain pours down on your houseboat - enjoy the tranquility as a sip on some indian wine. The room on the boat itself is great. clean, big enough, - after a nice hot shower on the boat you'll forget your even on a boat. Great hotel that offers an awesome experience.

Room Tip: Get a houseboat for a night or 2

For our honeymoon, Kerala proved to be a perfect place . We came to hear about Kumarakom lake resort through tripadvisor. We read the reviews on tripadvisor and finally booked the heritage lake view villas with private pool for 2 nights .Actually a 6 day/5 nights package to Munnar,Thekkady & Kumarakom was taken from Antilog Vacations. The tour was reasonably priced & very well managed.

Wonderfully blissful place in the middle of the backwaters, away from noisy traffic and pollution. The place is set on the banks of Vembanad Lake. It’s a paradise untouched by time. It is 72 kms away from Cochin International Airport. As we landed on the Airport cab was waiting for us which dropped us to the resort. On reaching the resort we had warm welcome and after completing the check-in process we were taken to our villa.

Wow staying at villa with private pool sounds great!!! The villa was designed in Kerala’s traditional homestead style equipped with every luxury and every modern amenity. On side of the villa was Vembanad Lake, silent and beautiful. On the other side was clean private pool. There was spacious outdoor bathroom in the villa. There was extreme privacy in the villa whereas room service was round the clock.

All the four dining area are good each one of them has their own quality. Ettukettu the multi-cuisine restaurant offers the continental, Chinese, mughalai, north Indian and traditional Kerala’s food. Food was exceptionally tasty and healthy as it was not too oily. There is traditional tea shop, Thattukada in the resort near the lake where you can enjoy your evening tea with traditional snacks.

You can enjoy backwater cruise, sunset cruise, indoor games, and water sports including water skiing, speedboat, and banana boat rides in the resort. There is also a fitness centre in the resort.

The Kumarakom lake resort is amazingly nice place for honeymoon couples; they can spend quality time at the place.

We stayed at this resort and I was truly overwhelmed by the beauty of the resort, the evening boat ride, the rooms and most importantly the service.

The buffet spreads were fantastic both in terms of the range and also the quality. The best part was that in addition to the other stuff, they also had local dishes.

The evening boat ride over the back waters was memorable and the swimming pool overlooking the back waters is truly out of the world.

One of the best experiences I have ever had in my travels. A must stay.

Kumarakon lake resort is one of the Best Places I ever stayed. A truly Exotic resort with lake water surrounding the property giving it an heavenly look. The Service and courtesy of the staff is excellent. The whole resort has an ancient wooden look and some part of the property and antique architecture. Its a place to get dissolved in Nature with lush greenery all around. The Complimentary sunset Lake Safari is amazing and the SPA is absolutely Blissful. I took a Villa with private pool and jacuzzi. Its highly recommended to ask for a Villa near main Swimming pool, as they have a brilliant view of lake sunset time.
Food is also one of the assets of the resort, with exotic recipes and some pickles and spices we never heard of. The conference room in small with limited capacity.
A must visit for all those who love Nature and Life.

Room Tip: Rooms with Private pools are the Best. Dont miss the Clay Modeling and Boat Ride.

Going with a family we opted for the Heritage Villa with private pool which also had the jacuzzi which made our vacation a memorable one.
Staff were very accommodating and pleasant, smiling which put us at ease. The place was calm and with the rains it was greener. Its good to see that they have come out with ideas like pottery or clay modelling and the mat weaving for the guests and one more interesting idea of theirs was the Thattukada in the evenings where they serve local chai/coffee with the local eateries.
