Very beautiful lake facing property but has some weird policies like 50% extra charge on food if delivered to the room. Rooms are big and spacious but can do more with slightly more cleanliness. A good value for money property.

Edassery Kayal Resort completly exceeded my expectation... We are basically from Kerala and were looking for an ideal Spot to have a 1/N &2D get togthere in Dec. Having Visited Kumarakom Many times, i found this Property a great place esp for short Stays. It had limited scope for other activities apart from relaxing
Some of the Points i Found to be great are
* Rooms are very spacious , We had a great time with lot of space to accomadate very one.
* Rooms have a great View. Excellant Sit out area
* Easily accessible by road and very close to Zuri
* Great Pool .
Points to be improved.
* Bed Qulaity needs to imrove, Toiletries also needs complete make over..
* Service needs to Improve. I found that majority of workers ( room boys) were belonging to different states and that they werent communicating well to each other.. Hence if you needed some assistance which required coordination, it may take some time...
* Kitchen Dept needs to improve with better spread ..
* More facilities interms of scope for extra callicular activities needs to be developed.
If you have a longer duration, i may not suggest this as there is nothing much you can do apart .

The resort is located nest to Zuri and few other resorts and shares one the best location in Kumarakom. Entire resort seems to be on water with stilts.

Check in and Reception
We reached the resort in the evening and the reception staff was already expecting us. They gave good refreshing drink. They handed over the room and then did the check in formalities once were were settled. These small things help when you have parents with you, and drove long distance from Munnar.

Rooms and Room Service
All the rooms have great views and same views. There is an excellent sit out in all the rooms but that can be used till sunset, as the mosquitoes make it difficult to sit there in the dark. It is advisable not to open the balcony doors windows after dark. Hotel staff regularly does fumigation for mosquitoes. These were the largest rooms i found in Kerala. They had 2 queen size beds in the room, which makes the bed huge as they are placed together. Bath and other amenities provided in the room was upto the mark. Room service was excellent and the service staff responds within second for any single request.

Food
Restaurant needs improvement. We reached in the evening and there was hardly any choice for evening snack. They only server the meals in buffet. The restaurant manager is not supported by kitchen staff. Even if the manager agrees, the chef declines to cook the order. The buffet dishes are not replenished, so be early for breakfast and dinner or else u may not get food at all. The breakfast time is 8 to 10 AM. However the buffet is only spread by 8: 15 and is finished by 9:30. We asked for a watermelon juice which was the part of buffet at 9:30, it did not come and we again reminded the manager at 10 AM, he said buffet is closed, on explaining and some exchange of words he managed to get some food replenished and juice service. Buffet has limited 4-5 dishes, but decent taste. They have a bar, but you need to ask as they do not provide menus and bar is not visible either.

Swimming Pool:
Swimming pool is located in the center of the resort and was clean. They open the pool early so that guest till late giving you ample time and flexibility.

Though there is not much to do in the resort, one can just sit in the lawns near the backaters and spend time relaxing and chit chatting.

Overall good place, if the experience with food can be improved.

Room Tip: All rooms have same views.

When i entered the hotel i was awestruck with the beauty of the hotel and felt like i wud not want to leave the hotel.
But as the day passed by, my view had changed.. infact opposite.

No doubt it looks awesome, has a pool with great view.

But the rooms had small cockroackes which were even climbing on the bed. The staff is very unfriendly; its young boys who don't know ABC of customer service. The buffet dinner and breakfast both has very less variety and to add to the experience, the guys serving around are ready to pick your plate before you are finished..

I was travelling with my 16 months daughter and ordered for milk. They charge you for milk more than Rs 900 per litre; and the milk had half water in it. One doesn't mind paying but only for Quality things. And when generally i questioned them about the cost of milk v/s quality, he said we will give u discount.. when does one get discount on food items.. i hated the way they dealt with customers..

Its good to get pictures clicked around in the hotel; but definitely not a place to stay.

Room Tip: I wonder if they have a good room without cockroaches

Edassery was our choice because it was not as expensive as the Zuri's and Taj's; however had some level of grandness to it. The rooms are exceptionally clean and most have a view of the lake. The pool is very clean and it faces the lake directly - almost an infinity pool (not entirely). Its refreshing being in the pool and seeing the sun set - quite an experience. Another advantage of the place is its proximity to some of the good hotels - especially Zuri. So one can stay in Edassarey and walk it to Zuri at night for the dinner and cultural programs. Quite a bargain :). But all in all - a great place and have recommended it to all.

Room Tip: Almost all rooms face the lake

This is a very nice resort which makes you feel as if you are floating on the water. They have a nice swimming pool, though the cleanliness was not up to the mark. The best part is the food. The chef is awsome and we loved to have all the meals in the resort restaurant itself during our stay.
