They have got very good spacious rooms with clean linen and bathrooms.Staff are friendly and the view from the room is good.Private pool rooms are also available. When it comes to food, really below par when compared to the standard of the rooms and Tariff.Breakfast is very simple just for the sake of giving complimentary breakfast.Usually people travel to Kumarakom just to relax and have good food.So you can avoid if you are looking for good food

Room Tip: Go for Lake view rooms with a good view of the lake from the balcony

Abad Whispering Palms Lake Resort is a lakeside resort with facilities and amenities you should expect from a 4 star resort in Kerala. The resort have nice views to the lake and is spread out alongside the Kumarakom lake. You will find partial lake view cottages, lake view cottages and bamboo cottages. There is lot of play area for the kids and a nice swimming pool. Each cottage has private sitout areas with plenty of space. Rooms are spacious and decor with a mix of traditional and modern amentities. The restaurant is spacious and with traditional ambience. The choice of food is limited but with nice typical kerala flavours. This is a non-alcoholic resort and activities are not many considering the area the resort is spread out. However it is a good choice for those who would want a good bargain and get the feeling of a family resort with privacy. The resort is ideal for short breaks.

Room Tip: Go for the Lake view rooms or the Bamboo Villas

Stayed as a couple . Booked for bamboo villa , got upgraded to lake view .

Pros : good view . That's about it .

Cons : ill maintained rooms .
Dirty bathrooms . Even the tub had disgusting sand particles and the lot .
Room service : on time but substandard food .
Noise levels are extreme considering the lake view is adjacent to the pool and they accept group tours of children so do not expect peace and quiet .
Breakfast buffet : worst one I've had in my life . All about 7 dishes that included idly , vada, sambar ,poori , masala and boiled egg . Had to ask around 5 people if they can make an omelette for us .

Verdict : you can definitely get a better place for the money you shell out here . Not going back just for the view .

Room Tip: Lake view seems to be a good option if you have no other choice at any other hotel .

Myself and my partner with family decided to spend our free time in Kumarakom from 23rd to 25th september 2012 and after a very long search and comparisons we finally chosen ABAD WHISPERING PALMS LAKE RESORT based on the reviews in Trip advisor.

We feel happy when we entered the resort by seeing the ambiance like children play area, pool, spa, restaurant etc., and it is vanished when we entered our "LAKE VIEW " room nos 113 & 114 since we feel the room size is very small though it is mentioned as "Deluxe" and has no additional hall to relax which is needed for a family with kids.

The unexpected thing started in the evening.ie. "MOSQUITOES". We really didn't anticipate such types of mosquitoes which are different from our home mosquitoes and when it bites the skin immediately swells and itching started.( till now i'm rubbing my legs).

Food quality also to be improved which is not spicy and tasty.

Apart from the above disappointments, the location, amenities and service are good.

My rating for this resort is "AVERAGE" and no value for money.

Room Tip: Lake view is good.

Had a decent stay. Adjoining the beautiful waters. Spacious room. Swimming pool is real good. The restaurant had good spread of buffet and different for each meal/breakfast. Had a good evening time too as the hotel had arranged for some kerala cultural programs.

On the con side, there is nothing in the resort to spend time upon. There is no activity space for adults and it might become real boring after a couple of days.

Boat rides on cost basis were arranged by the front desk just as car for inland tourist place visits were arranged promptly.

Overall a good place to relax and enjoy nature.

We have booked the resort by having an idea in trip adviser ,I really disappointed by mosquito bites out side the room (lawn area ) and no one mentioned in there reviews
Food quality also not so good!
Otherwise lake view ,children play area ,locality ,spa ,ambience was so good!
We can go once!

Room Tip: Lake view rooms 113 and 114 in south side are really good

I was there with friends last month (Aug-2012).

The resort is well placed. Rooms are spacious enough.
The toilets are of a different kind.. with the outer half of the roof kept open.. covered with net.. Some might find it odd or at discomfort being in there... some might find it amusing.
The Breakfast Buffet (provided with the room deal) was very good.
Seemed a little pricey for the kind of rooms provided.

Room Tip: The cottages with Lake view seems to be the best option.
