“great location but low quality rooms and service”
Reviewed January 5, 2011

We stayed just one night at this resort and then moved to another resort and a houseboat later. The room was tiny with very basic/old furniture and bathroom fittings. Couldn't keep the bathroom door from slamming shut. The walls were paper thin, and we heard all the noises from the hall and other rooms. Since it's a family resort, the noises were loud with lots of kids and adults active late in the night and early in the morning. Needless to say, we didn't sleep much. One positive-- the dinner menu was good, and although service was *really* slow, the food was excellent. Breakfast buffet the next morning was not as good. There are multiple hotels around Kumarakom and the lake, and for the price Lakesong charges, their value for money just doesn't add up.

This resort was overall disappointing, though the location was beautiful and the food was quite tasty (especially the breakfast buffet!). The reception staff were surly and dismissive. The porter who carried our bags to our room told us he didn't like working there and was forced to work very long shifts for very little pay (or risk losing his job). When we arrived there was garbage and room service leavings in our entryway, which we eventually had to remove ourselves. The restaurant service, while courteous, involved numerous errors such as repeatedly forgetting to bring our drinks. And when we left, we were ignored at check-out in favour of Malayalam-speaking patrons despite having been at the desk before them.

In short, this resort was comfortable and picturesque, but the staff are amateur and unaware of how to treat customers in an establishment charging as much as they do.

Lakesong is a lovely resort. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They have a great swimming pool with a jacuzzi. They have a very handy gym. The resort looks much like Venice as the water of the backwaters runs all around you. The rooms are very good. But the thing I liked the most was the FOOD.....it was simply OUTSTANDING....i loved the food

I reeeeaaaaaaalllllllllyyyyyyyy had a GREAT time in lakesong

Eastend Lakesong resort is good and quiet place. The best part is that it has great pictorial scene. One can spend hours relaxing on hammock in the garden and see Vebmanad Lake for long.It has swans and small canoi in the hotel itself. The distance between resturant and hotel is bit more. There are various things for enjoyment i.e Cycle, Gym, Pool.Indeed one of the best place.

This Resort had a great view of backwaters, good food and beautiful garden with a water channel of its own. Rooms were not that great for the price. Apart from that we enjoyed the stay and the hospitality that was served here.

A well maintained property on the banks of India's longest lake - Vembanad lake. The view is mind blowing....The rooms are neat, landscaping is done very well. You need to ensure that you get a room as close to the lake as the rooms are spread out in a long line... Cottages are the best. Cleanliness can be improved. Food is expensive but the facilities are good. Service is also very good. The swimming pool is good and clean.
You should definitely try out the sea food available at nearby "Toddy" shops. Though these places are not neat you will get a variety of sea food freshly made....try it along with tapioca & fish curry....
The Kumarakom bird sanctuary is also near by.
If you drive from Kochi via Cherthala to Kumarakom then you will cross one of Asia's largest "Bund" at Thannermukkom. This "Bund" separates the backwaters from the sea. The Lake is at sea level. The area is known as as the rice bowl of Kerala because of extensive rice cultivation. This is probably the only place in the world where cultivation is done at a level below sea level.
