What a wonderful experience. You arrive by boat and from the moment you set foot on the hotel grounds you are pampered. The grounds are stunning, all rooms are located in individual chalets, thoughtfully designed with outdoor showers and air conditioning, tv, minibar, etc. The restaurants serve excellent food and the staff are friendly. Do take advantage of the various activities - the bird watching walk (small charge), the premises tour, the village walk and the suset cruise are all to be recommended and are accompanied by a very knowledgable naturist. Environmentally friendly throughout, this idyllic hotel should be included on any Keralan adventure.

We had great stay for three nights in one of the heritage bungalows. Loved the traditional wooden architecture of the upstairs bedrooms and the alfresco bathroom. The grounds are beautiful but laid back (doesn't have that over the top luxury vibe). We ate the buffet in the main dining room one night and found the food delicious (lots of authentic Kerelan cooking) but the next night we ate in the small seafood restaurant and the same type of food was poorly cooked and twice as expensive. We hired a small barge boat to take us in and around the lake and the small backwater canals during the day which were simply amazing and not crowded (much better than our over night houseboat experience). Overall my favorite place we stayed in Kerela.

From the minute the boat pulls up to reception, you are welcomed with flute music and fresh flowers and the experience continues.. The rooms are clean and elegant, the staff very helpful and friendly, the grounds are beautiful and the food at the restaurants wonderful.
Coconut Lagoon is part of the CGH Earth group (eco-hotels), so doing your bit for the environment without comprimising on comfort.
We weren't aware that it is as remote as it is. It can only be reached by boat and if you want to buy your own water or snacks, do so before reaching the hotel.
You cant help but relax at this hotel, it is peaceful, beautiful and quiet.

This was the second time we had stayed the 1st time was some 6 years ago.We went back because we enjoyed it so much the first time.It is a lovely location with a great swimming pool.We stayed in one of the cotttage rooms which was fine. The main restaurant has excellent buffet food both at breakfast and in the evening with good waitng staff who explain the food and bring freshly cooked items to your table. However beware the 'seafood restaurant '.We went one evening as a 'treat' knowing it was more expensive. The food ranged from the bland through to the awful. My wife's starter was overcooked fish balls plonked on a plate. The staff were indifferent when she complained eventually offering a soup which was largely fish stock as an alternative. We were charged for it.The seafood main course was OK but very bland.Given that the main restaurant with very good food is only 500 yards away it's difficult to work out why the much more expensive place has such poor food! Also the resort is starting to show signs of a lack of attention eg mildew in the bathrooms and on the sun loungers.Overall though it's a lovely relaxing place to stay for a few days with good things like a sunset cruise with a musician , an early morning bird watching cruise on the lake plus walking

We spent two nights here and were not impressed with the rooms. The grounds are lovely, hotel is location right on the lake and you arrive via a motor boat going through the canals. The lobby and restaurant are open air and wood is the primary decor here. This is a very humid environment but rooms are air conditioned. Lots of activities to partake in and we took a lunch houseboat cruise on the lake for 5 hours as arranged by our travel company. Best experience. What we didn't care for was the rooms: two story with steep, narrow stairs going up to bedroom, no robes or slippers, a bed on high stilts, no hair dryer, a downstairs with a table and two chairs, a desk and chair, an outdoor bathroom with shower. We ate all our meals in hotel as there is nothing close by and it was fine - always buffet with a wide variety of food. Service by hotel employees was great and they wave goodbye to departing guests. Very nice to us. This would be a good place for those who want to chill out by the pool which looked lovely.

Cows grazing in front of your bungalow, nice yoga shala but lousy teacher, such a shame ! The scenery is magnificent, nice pool, nice staff in the restaurant, smiling and helpful, but not so nice in the reception !, comfortable heritage bungalow, good a/c, good food but too expensive.

The rooms are showing their age a bit but we had a very comfortable night there, with excellent aircon. The bathroom is outside and open-air- rather strange sitting on the toilet watching the birds fly by! Also my glasses steamed up - a bit of a pain.
The grounds are lovely- they have their own cow instead of a lawnmower, and a naturalist takes you on bird/butterfly watching walks
I loved the swimming pool- huge and overlooking Lake Vembanad. We ate in the main restarant, and had an excellent buffet- but it was the most expensive of our tour at 800 rupees. Bring your own decaffeinated coffee- they haven't heard of it.
Staff charming and helpful. There is no individual tipping- just a box at reception- a policy I wish all Indian hotels would follow
