We have just returned from a 2 week stay at this hotel. We would highly recommend this hotel. It is in a great location, well maintained, superb staff and great food. It is a quiet and relaxing location so if you are looking for nightlife & excitement this is not the place for you.
Most people stay here for 2 - 3 days during a tour but this location can also be used as a base for trips out and about. This allows you to get to know the staff and they cannot do enough for you to make sure that your stay is memorable. All rooms have air con which is not mentioned in their room specifications. We stayed in a Heritage Bungalow and it was superb. We looked at the higher spec rooms but were happy where we were. We are going to return to this Hotel again in the near future.

Room Tip: Try to get a Bungalow facing the River or Lake.

Stayed 3 nights, twin sharing. Located right at the Vembanadam lake shore gives a great experience of the back waters of Kearala. The resort has individual cottages of old kerala style with wood used extensively in the cottages. From the welcome to the resort with melodious flute recital , the neat and clean cottages, the huge spread of Kerala cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner to the warm sendoff on the day of your checkout, its one great experience.
Very courteous and hospitable staff ensuring that you have a great stay from the time you get in till you leave.
A lot of activities at the resort that will really relax you out the entire stay. Morning yoga sessions, you can take ayurvedic massages in their massage center. The bird sanctuary is on the other side of the waterway and hence you can see a variety of the birds in the resort complex. The resort itself is spread across huge land, so just walking around the resort, lazing on the chairs facing the lakes is itself relaxing.
Overall a wonderful experience.

Room Tip: Cottage adjacent to teh waterways , gives you a good view of the lake or the bird sanctuary.

We are visiting the place after 15 years. The location is as mesmerising as ever. The property is located right on the Vembanad Lake, the large fresh water lake in Kerala. You can watch the beautiful sun set. The resort is adjacent to the bird sanctuary in Kumarakom. So we get to watch beautiful birds from our room. The service is good. Food is good and more authentic Kerala cuisine. Do not miss the Ayurveda massage in the resort. They have a resident Ayurvedic doctor for a health check. Enjoyed resort throughly.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the bird sanctuary are good, for bird watching.

As working couples, our every second vacation is focused on relaxation & chilled out time. While planning this vacation, I wanted to be close to nature in an eco-friendly place without compromising on any luxury that a vacation must have. Voila !! I found Coconut lagoon.

Location - The oldest resort in the Kumarkaon, situated on the Vembanad lake. 2 hour drive from Kochi was scenic.Only way to reach the resort is through water channel. They have a small boarding place where you will leave your car & board the boat. Entering the resort gate ( so called checkpoint on the water canal as the boat entered the resort ) That was one of the highlights of the stay.

Property - Lush green grounds, small water canals flowing through the property, birds chirping in the silent surrounding was enough to make the place serene. Of course, backwater is the highlight as few villas are facing backwater. If you are choosing Mansion or cottage then also there are plenty of chairs, swings just near the backwater where you can see the sun set or just watch the water flow.
We stayed in Cottage & loved it. It is like a unit in itself, a sit-out with chairs, spacious room with sitting options & all done in solid wood. Bathroom is open air & for once give u a feel that you are in some tropical resort in Maldives or Fiji :)

What to do - Just relax & let your stress ease out. Take a dip in the pool, catch the last unread book or indulge in their Ayurvedic center that has good masseurs, don't miss to get a massage or two done. Property walk, sunset cruise. evening cultural program was on the house. We were there for a quiet vacation hence enjoyed the sunset cruise with a old gentlemen playing flute to make it memorable.
For activity seekers - Learn table, cooking etc but not the best place for adrenal junkies though there are motor boat rides.

Food - Restaurant offers buffet & al-carte. We tried both and were quite happy with food.
There is no room service.

Will we go back ? Oh Yes !

Chose this destination over Munnar, Thekkady, Kovalam etc. Enjoyed every bit of it, right from the embarkation at the private jetty till disembarkation at the same place for onward journey. A truly ethnic and so environment friendly resort. Staff, so courteous, helpful and ever ready to help. The old man playing flute at reception first and on boat later is worth mentioning. Churning out even Hindi songs without knowing the language and so down south of India.
One can see conservation efforts all over the place, recycling coconut waste, recycling waste water, organic farming, vermiculture to name a few.
Food was varied, tasty and with a local taste and style. Afternoon cookery classes(attended two with my wife) was such a great add on. Simple, not very expensive bar facilities. Restaurant had such a good view of the lake and a very very green cover all around, tall coconut trees along with other species, shrubs, hedges and a variety of plants. And yes the orchids, specially the ones on the trees.
Evening boat sun set trips were very enjoyable, even if the weather was cloudy with intermittent rains. Spa was also a good experience, had the body massage by expert locals, well trained and very courteous. Doctor was very good and professional. Checked my blood pressure prior to the massage.
Cottage style rooms are quite neat with an outside open to sky toilet and shower yet quite private. Ayurvedic toiletries were so befitting and kept in very attractive and unusual ceramic containers. No common plastic bottles! Had a small sit out with a commanding view.
Higly recommend to travelers who like Nature, beauty. Plenty of all around here. A great breakaway from the city lives. Came back fully rejuvenated.

Room Tip: Take any but facing the lake a definitely a better choice.
