Coconut lagoon is set amongst the back water and has a very eco friendly theme which i love and appreciate. However, prices of services and food are slightly more pricey compared to other 4 stars hotels we went to.

The services of the staff is really good and we enjoyed our stay there.
The open bathroom concept is really unique but do watch out for mosquitoes.

Buffet dinner costs 1550Rs which we found quite expensive considering that other hotels are charging lesser but i must say that the spread is really good though and has a wide variety so its quite alright in this case.

They have their own butterfly garden which didnt have alot of butterflies when we visited it but it is nice and green.

Overall, it is quite an experience to stay over and the only bad thing is we didnt have enough time to spend roaming the place and join in their activities.

The place has pure unadulterated rustic feel with all modern amenities. The moment we stepped out at the reception area, we were transferred to another era, a difference civilization oozing of hospitality and relaxing environment. We had booked a Heritage Bungalow, the lowest category stay there, but even those were amazing. Open air washroom, place smelling of tea plantation, best of accessories at your disposal, it was WOW. We were counting the hours we had for our stay there. We wished that the time could stop and we remain there.

I would definitely be making more trips here.

Room Tip: Must stay here if you travel to Kumarakom

We stayed two nights and saw 50 bird species. There was a lot to do with wonderfully informative guides. The rooms were immaculate, great AC and wonderful view of the lake. The boat rides on the lake were educational and relaxing.

Room Tip: All the rooms were great but the ones by the Jetty or the lake had the most access to birds

This hotel covers quite a large piece of ground on the edge of the lagoon. There are dozens of little heritage buildings that have been restored and relocated to here, but all far enough from each other to remain private and not feel crowded in any way.
The bathrooms are particularly good, as due to the heat and humidity, they are actually very glamorous outdoor structures tacked onto your room.
The main restaurant is wonderful, but the seafood restaurant was a disappointment; most of the menu was unavailable.

We spent one night on one of their houseboats, which is definitely worth it! They are floating straw houses with every luxury, including staff. The lagoons are beautiful!

Room Tip: The mansions are bigger.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights at the start of our tour of Kerala in November 2012. We arrived by rice boat, where we stayed the previous night. Check-in was a bit chaotic but appeared organised. The hotel is located on a peninsular where a river joins a great lake, the views will never disappoint of the passing rice and fishing boats. The rooms were well appointed, we stayed in a ‘Heritage’ which was two story. Very steep wooden staircase to the bedroom, very worrying if you forget where you are in the middle of the night. The bathroom is set outside in its own little courtyard. Very rustic a novel until you consider showering in the evening by electric light - you won’t be alone. The prices are exactly the same as the other CGH properties we stayed at (Three), but with one subtle difference. Tax is excluded from the advertised prices, small print at bottom of menu, so you will be paying around 18% more. Again like other reviewers I was impressed by the eco approach from this hotel and its chain, until the hotel Speedboat, which is available for hire breaks the speed and noise limits as it cuts across that idyllic lake. Really need to think about that one Coconut Lagoon!!
