The food at this hotel, especially in the buffets is phenomenal! Dinner was outstanding and breakfast was just as good. The rooms are very clean, spacious and comfortable. The individual lighting is very quirky! There is a receptacle as soon as you enter the room for your room key. This triggers the rooms overall lighting. Where it gets a little strange is- if one person needs to turn on the lights to the bathroom the rest of the lights, especially the recessed light directly over the bed stays on. There is no switch in the room to be found. Everyone on our tour experienced the same problem! The person trying to sleep was inconvenienced while the other person went into the bathroom. If the room keys were removed from the doorway receptacle the overall lighting was disabled. Go figure...

The Renaissance in Naruto is unlike the majority of Renaissance Hotels or Marriott Hotels except for a few in Japan. It is quite old fashioned and very Japanese style hotel and do not expect any special treatment as a Marriott rewards Members such as a check in earlier than the mandatory 3.00 PM. They offer food and lodging packages which are quite good with all main meals included and they do have a variety of restaurants which are quite good. Although classified as a resort its pool area is OK but not what you might expect from a resort in Asia. The staff are friendly and the rooms quite good although a little dated and very Japanese style.

Room tip: Floors six to nine

History: Originally built and opened in 1991. Shows ages in some parts, but generally well maintained and renovated.
Location: On an island between city center of Naruto and Awaji Island. Relatively quiet location.
Interior Decor: Well maintained and inviting atmospheric lobby/lounge with Southern European accent. Guest room I stayed features Renaissance standard furnitures. Not the leading edge furnitures, but rich, lush and peaceful sets of visuals in the guest room.
Exterior Apperance: One of the distinguished resorts (9 story high) in Naruto area.
Outside view from the room I stayed at (401): Beautiful view of the ocean and seashore to northeast (as I luckily got upgraded to a corner superior room. Also magnificent view of Naruto Bridge/Strait view. Extraordinary.
Room Size: (Upgraded from regular twin to corner double, with the privilege of Marriott Rewards Silver status) Approximately, 44 square meters. Seems larger than what the number appears.
Room Cleanness: Very well maintained. Spotlessly clean.
Bathroom/Shower booth: Very well maintained. Spotlessly clean. But, the main features of this hotel are two onsen (hot springs) on 1st (half outdoor) and 8th (indoor) floors, both very well maintained and magnificent view.
Noise Insulation: Average.
Price and Value: Reasonable price, considering the condition of the room, upgrade value (for Marriott Rewards Silver) and the magnificent view from the room. Definitely recommended of you want to escape from city life.
Bed: King size. Medium softness. Slept fine.
Others: 2 bottles of complimentary mineral water as Marriott Rewards Silver member. The staff showed me a hike up to the top of Naruto Tower to see the bridge and the strait (about 8km walk roundtrip with medium ups and downs). That was a good exercise.
Breakfast buffet (came with the package plan): Incredibly wide selection of locally grown vegetables, fruits and meat, superior view of the ocean and super friendly staffs.
Overall: Very professionally trained careing staffs.
15223 steps (about 11200 came from here) 10.89km (About 7km came from here) 52 story walk

Excellent location, delicious food, friendly staff. Great view from the balcony.
We had Japanese Buffet dinner famous of the snapper fish in Naruto. Very fresh & with different ways of preparing it. White soft sands, sky blue beach, relaxing environment to spend our day fishing, swimming.

Room tip: It it a Japanese tatami style room. Sea view is the best choice.

We had an excellent visit here. Clean rooms, nice and decent size and up to date. Nice view overlooking the sea, all rooms are seaview.
Onsen are nice and have a sauna as well. Man and women separate. Breakfast was okay and dinner was fine too!

Short ride to the famous whirlpools and bridge!
