I booked 2 rooms using Booking.com but the only single room rate a business rate. The hotel emailed to ask if I was sure that this was what I intended and offered me a cheaper alternative. They could not have been more helpful throughout.

The rooms are plain and simple but quite spacious and very clean. The river/chateau views are worth having. Breakfast was a typical French buffet but plentiful and fresh. We did not eat dinner but the bar was pleasant.

Wifi is free and available throughout. Little touches like a complimentary bottle of mineral water make a difference as does the fact that the lighting in the bathroom is very good and there is a small magnifying mirror. So many hotels seem to expect you to put your make-up on in the semi dark!

We stayed at the Hotel for one night in August and booked a room with a view of the Chateau in Josselin. We had a corner room which was not only more spacious than the standard rooms but still had a view of the Chateau.
We also had a meal out on the verandah that runs down the river / chateau side of the hotel, very pleasant on a warm summer evening. The choice of a 3 course meal for 18 Euros proved to be very good value for money, as did a carafe of very acceptable and affordable house white wine. the service was excellent and the food both tasty and well cooked.
The bedroom had all the usual amenities with a good selection of French cable channels and a well maintained en-suite bathroom. There was an option for breakfast which we didn't use.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room with a view of the Chateau, much larger than standard.

This was our first visit to the attractive small town of Josselin on the River Oust/Brest-Nantes Canel. The Hotel du Chateau has a commanding position across the main bridge on the waterside. We paid €5 night extra for a room overlooking the river and the imposing chateau, which was well worth it. Our room was spacious with plenty of storage space and a bath with a shower too. Very comfy bed and all spotlessly clean. The Logis is family run and the staff are friendly and efficient. Breakfast was nearly €10 pp extra and we took it as it was more convenient than going to a cafe in the town. The choice was quite good by French standards. We loved the homemade fig and nut jam! The restaurant is very pleasant with good views of the river and castle. We only had one evening meal there, which we enjoyed. There is a choice of several set menus, including a 'Menu du Terroir' (v good- 3 courses €26) and many a la carte choices. I had the scallops which were good. There is an outdoor riverside terrace where you can enjoy a drink on a warm day. We like to eat out in the evenings so only dined in once during our 6 day stay at the hotel. There's a wide choice of restaurants in the town. The only downside of this hotel is that there is no lift - no problem for us but could be for the less able unless there are rooms on the ground floor.

Dear Madam, Dear Sir,

Thank you for your comment. We hope to see you again.

Just for information, there are no rooms on the groundfloor so like you said, it is more difficult for disabled people.

Sincerely,

Taking everything into consideration a good choice.Room 106 clean and functional with a lovely view across the river to the chateau. Josselin a nice little town up the hill from the hotel and we wished we had taken another night here to explore further. We enjoyed a very good dinner in the restaurant and a good choice at breakfast. Staff attentive and pleasant. Good car parking belonging to the hotel across the road.

Room Tip: For atmosphere ask for a chateau view and make sure you see it flood lit

We booked this hotel as it was on our motoring route through Brittany and we were not disappointed. Our room was reasonably spacious with a great view of the magnificent chateau opposite. We were only here for one night but we enjoyed a really good meal in the hotel restaurant. Car parking was no problem as the hotel car park was in its own private area just across the road from the main door of the hotel. Would we stay here again - yes we would.

Room Tip: Book a room with a chateau view

We can always rely on this hotel - and this our third visit was no exception. Friendly, efficient staff and always the excellent standard of cleanliness. Comfortable rooms and a good choice and variety for breakfast.

Room Tip: It is worth paying that little extra for a room facing the Chateau
