We stayed two nights on our way from Cali to Otavalo. This hotel is very cheap at 21,000 peso's ($11 dollars) a night for the two of us. For the money it is great value, but you wouldn't want to linger!
The rooms are small with TV and cupboard space, the bathrooms are tiny, everything is cold but there is plenty of bedding. The showers are supposed to be hot but at best were warm. Maybe it was the odd times I had a shower but I never got to enjoy hot water.
The wifi is ok, but would drop out from time to time - better in some parts of the hotel.
The man who works nights is moody and unhelpful, little things like toilet paper are a huge effort, hot water - impossible, even though we saw a kettle the day after we asked.
The woman during the day is only slightly less surly!
We had breakfast in the hotel which was fine, but no veggie options for lunch or dinner. Across the road in the terminal there are plenty of little breakfast/lunch spots that had great meals super cheap.
On the second day we were kept awake from 5am - 6:30am with a constant stream of noisy guests leaving to catch early buses. One girl stood near our door and spoke to her Mother in the US for 20 minutes on speaker phone. We got to hear the whole story of her recent travels, with plenty of repeats as the reception was not great.
All in all, this is a cheap and safe place to stay when you are crossing the border and very handy to the bus terminal. But don't stay longer than you need to.
