Owner description: Booking needed! Baruffaldi Daniele and children's farm is a family-run farm. Born in the early 2000s as a hobby with 3 sow and a boar, this farm has grown more and more like Daniele's love of to this beautiful animal reaching a peak of almost 400 pigs. Now stabilized at about 200 animals including 20 breeders, all strictly bred in the beautiful Siena's hills forests. The guided tour of our farm is a moment of pure curiosity for the many children who come to visit but also for adults who are immediately entranced by the history of this animal and the diversity it has towards the town pink pigs. In addition, this animal reased in open areas and free to graze, changes the vision of the cold industrial farming that is very common throughout Italy into our animal-respecting! Finally our beautiful products that we can offer you will made your taste buds jump for joy!! To enjoy a wonderful day surrounded by nature and fresh air in contact with these beautiful animals, come and visit us! Animals but especially children are welcome!

“Real Tuscan farm visit”
Reviewed January 21, 2014

We loved visiting Daniel and his beautiful cinta senese pigs and watching him take such care of them because of his love for the animal and the breed in particular. We had a tasting of his cured meats with fresh olive oil and of course some wine. Highly recommend this farm visit. Not a busy place but call for reservation.

“The Best Affettati you will ever taste”
Reviewed November 19, 2013

Daniele and his family are the best of dedicated small farmers who are allowing their animals to roam freely, eat acorns, and only have one bad day in their lives-the day they become healthy meat for us to enjoy. The lardo, salami, all amazing.

It is worth going out of your way to see the very special cinta senese who have been raised in this
area for over 1000 years and who were in danger of becoming extinct until farmers such as
the Baruffaldi's dedicated themselves to saving this remarkable animal.

“A very special afternoon”
Reviewed October 24, 2013

We visited the farm in June 2013. It was one of the best excursions we have made in Tuscany.
Daniele Baruffaldi and his son, who speaks English fluently, have told us everything about
the special pigs. We learned a lot about the rare breed.
After the sightseeing, a tasting was prepared for us. The meat is absolutely delicious and not comparable with "normal" pork.
When you are interestind in animals and extraordinary meat a visit is a must!!!
Worth mentioning is also the hospitality of Daniele. See for yourself!

“Rare Animals give a rare food experience”
Reviewed August 9, 2013

A reat experience in breeding an almost distinct species of pigs you can also find on famous paintings in the ufficii and Siena.
The met is extremely healthy and is most likely the best tating prosciutto or salami you can find!!
Very nice, authentic atmosphere.

“Great Atmosphere Great Food”
Reviewed August 7, 2013

I have done this tasting now several times with a study abroad program, and it never gets old. Not only is Daniele very enthusiastic and passionate about his pigs and his job and it shows from the minute you enter the property, which is a beautiful farm set in the tuscan hill. Daniele always shows us a good time and always explains not only about what you are tasting but why he loves doing what he does. I suggest this experience to anyone wanting to taste and see where good food and good people come from.

Thank Chris H
