In an area full of solid to good Tuscan dining places, this one stands out for me. It is in the lovely small town of Sovicille, just outside of Siena, and offers up some excellent versions of regional foods. The chef/owner is a great guy and ensures that diners there have a personal and fun experience, the atmosphere is convivial, and the guests are always seeming to be enjoying themselves. Although most of the diners there are likely locals, I highly recommend this to travelers in the area who are seeking a non-tourist focused restaurant. Note that in warmer weather there is also lovely outdoor dining.
Things to eat here; I have usually opted for any of the several seafood offerings as they are really well done and a nice departure from the inland regional cooking you'll find in most places. Grilled fish, fried sardines and calamari, pasta with squid ink or clams, octopus salad, all are winners. Always order some of the spinach as it's delicious. The pizza is pretty good as well, and meat dishes, though I've rarely had them, are crowd pleasers too.
