“Beautiful.”

Although its been a while since i went i remember this hotel very well as it is captivating. Set around i lovely courtyard in a ranch type of style but very exotic. Very peaceful and tranquil. It is quitebout of the way so you need your own transport. Rooms are simple in plain spanish style but very clean. There is a lovely quiet little pool. One more thing if they have the same chef, the food is fantastic - you would struggle to find better in a michelin star resturant. Brill.

My wife and I have stayed twice in this hotel, each time for three days and each time in a September. We loved it. The hotel is set in beautiful landscape gardens, far enough away from the nearest small town Vejer de la Frontera to have absolutely no traffic noise but close enough (10 minutes drive) for anything you might need. Or go a bit further and there is an endless beautiful beach, El Palmar, having everything, except too many other tourists.

The hotel’s web site http://hotelsindhura.com shows accurate pictures of the gardens, the pool, the rooms and the beautiful internal courtyard with its fountains, sculptures and plants, however the web site does not properly convey that this hotel is something special. It is rated as a 2 star but it has easily the build quality and feel of a good 4 star hotel. You won’t get uniformed girls constantly on the reception desk and there is no gym and you will definitely struggle to get exotic cocktails mixed in the bar (the bar person goes AWOL occasionally), which is why the hotel is rated at 2 star. Not a problem for me in a holiday hotel, I am not on business, I want my holiday in Spain to be chilled with a Spanish atmosphere.

Its rural situation will not appeal to everyone, it is very much off the beaten track and there is no way you can pop across the road to the local shop or cafe, but you don’t need to, the hotel has everything you could want and Vejer is so close and really interesting. Just outside Vejer one day, we watched an old man breaking in a beautiful Spanish horse with patience and kindness – this is the real Andalucia – and the view!!

Try Hotel La Califa in Vejer for an unusual Moroccan lunch or morning coffee with fantastic pastries and baklavas.

The Sindhura hotel’s restaurant is very good too; this is one of the very few hotels we have stayed at where we ate in the restaurant every evening. Normally we like to try different places but the ambience in Sindhura, the top notch food and the varied menu were excellent plus a good and affordable wine list. One of the owners, Anna, lived for some time in (I think) Malaysia and some unusual curries and dishes from her time there are on the menu.

Our waitress on our last visit was a charming English girl, living locally; I wish I could remember her name as she was fantastic when my wife was a little ill, (potentially seriously), as were the hotel owners who left their mobile phone on all night in case we needed them.

Details: - plenty of free parking, free internet access in reception, good swimming pool (not heated though) with good shade and lots of comfortable loungers, our room had a little private patio, we had an ultra-clean bathroom, all rooms have a bath and shower, very comfy beds, we had a good sized fridge with space to put in our own drinks, tea and coffee facilities were in the room – even Earl Grey tea was provided. Breakfasts were simple Spanish but very good quality, wonderful coffee. The area can be windy – great in August when it is gentle and cooling, not so great in November unless you are into paragliding. But there are still surprising amounts of sun thought the year.

Why do we think this hotel so special? Other hotels can have similar facilities but can be so soulless, this hotel is relaxing but not lifeless, charming but still sophisticated and it is rare to find such genuinely kind owners who are interested in you without being obtrusive. And we like the area. We met the owner's grandchildren briefly, suddenly you are not just a person staying in the hotel but part of their life and culture.

Room Tip: At the top of the hill is a meat wholesalers selling top qualityJamon. Their Lomo Iberico is superb...

We stayed at the end of November. The hotel is very well kept. The owner and all staff were very helpful. We stayed in the junior suite, which was very nice, with lovely view down to the sea. We ate in the restaurant one night, and the food was good - Indian curry which actually made a change having been dining out Spanish for the previus 6 nights!
The hotel is very secluded and quiet... which would be great for peace and quiet in the summer, but made it perhaps a little too quiet at this end of the season. But, all in all, I would recommend the Sindhura.

Nice location calm and good views. Good swimming pool, but not heated. WiFi coverage was not good in our room. Dinner was okey but the Indian dishes are probably a better choice.

We booked Hotel Sindhura on the basis of the reviews we found on Tripadvisor and we were not disappointed.

The hotel is completely away from it all, however they have plenty of signs posted from the main road so it isn't too hard to find, just bear in mind it is not on a tarmac road.

The hotel itself is in a Moroccan type style, all rooms are accessed from a central, open air courtyard. The rooms are simple, but clean, spacious and have all the facilities you would expect. The bathrooms are good, with plenty of hot water.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, including the owners who couldn't have been nicer. You can really tell that this hotel is making a real effort to ensure that their guests have the best possible experience when staying there.

The hotel also has a nice, small pool, with plenty of sun loungers available, most of the time when we used this area we were the only ones there.

What really makes this hotel is its location. It is situated up on a hill with the most amazing views and it is just so quiet and peaceful. You are only 15 minutes drive from beautiful beaches and only 15 minutes from Vejer where there are some good restaurants.

One thing worth noting as well is the hotel also has a great restaurant which is actually very reasonably priced, I can especially recommend their curries which make a nice change to all the fish and pork dishes in all the other local restaurants.

Overall I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel, it is the perfect respite for the frantic pace of everyday life

Room Tip: There is one first floor room overlooking the pool which I think is the best one to go for.

We have eaten here previously and really enjoyed the food but were a little apprehensive about how child friendly it would be. The owner could not have been more helpful. There was a choice of children's food offered and not of the "...with chips" variety. A plus point for us was a proper high chair with a seat strap (not very Spanish from our experience in local restaurants) which means we can eat peacefully without our son getting out of the chair every five minutes. Nothing was too much trouble and the mess was not scowled upon. The food was fab, especially the curry. Really recommend this as a great place to eat. Apologies that this is not a hotel review.

We could have stayed here all summer and still not wanted to leave. Our party consisted of 2 parents and our college-aged son. We loved the expansive, restful views toward the ocean. Our hosts were kind helpful, and very interesting to talk with. The onsite restaurant provided excellent fresh food. We are 2 omnivores and 1 vegan and were all pleased with the food selections, presentation, and wines. Our original plan was to stay in the Sindhura Suite and get an extra bed in it for our son. We ended up splurging, and our son had his own smaller room with a terrace. Both rooms had comfortable beds and were clean, airy and quiet. We had a rental car and enjoyed sightseeing through the surrounding countryside and dining in Vejer de la Frontera the night the hotel restaurant was closed. Out of our five-week visit to Spain, Hotel Sindhura was one of our highlights. If any or all 3 of us ever get lucky enough to travel to Spain again, we'd love to return to Hotel Sindhura.
