Description: Our kitchen is a market with a touch of creativity. Our salads are made with variety of fresh vegetables and fruits of the season. We love the dishes with vegetable garnish creams, dressings, fruit and nuts, making them more fun and tasty. Meat and fish treat them with care, ensuring their minimal handling, to arrive at the plate with all its freshness. Although we set dishes on our menu, our tendency is not to bore us and have fun. We hope that this proposal will do the same enthusiasm as we are.

“Highlight of our holiday..thanks!”
Reviewed December 7, 2012

We were staying in Vejer for almost one week middle of October 12 and were actually looking for a typical tapas place but someone recommended us the Quatro Gatos in a shop in Vejer. We had a look and though why not. Since we are usually not so in "modern kitchen" we did not expect too much.
BUT
This experience was for both of us so extraordinary. We loved all courses and the combinations have matched so great that we ordered one shot even again. The staff is also very very nice and helpful, not treating you like a stupid when you are insecure what to choose but helpful in tipps and explaining.
Unfortunately we discovered this on our last day, what a pity. But we assure you, we'll be back. Thanks guys, it's been a pleasure!
We 've orederd:
4 Cheese Salad with Cherry Tomato, Walnuts and Fig Vinaigrette
Strawberry Salmorejo with Mint
Chicken Fricassee with Potato, Capers and Citrus Fruit Mash
Baby Squid stuffed with Pickled Leek & Pine Nuts on a bed of Chilli Tomato with a hint of the Squid's ink
SHOTS:
Spicy Mussel, Mascarpone Cream and Red Pepper Mousse
Beef Ragout flavoured by Chilli Chocolate with Caramelized Onion Mousse
Chocolate Mousse, Almond Crumble with Amaretto sauce

“never again”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

Went with some friends and i will say all six of us said never again. We were sat in the cave which i will say was freezing, we all had different shots to begin with which were okay. then we all ordered different main courses my duck was so rare i am not sure if it had ever seen the pan and the the cod dish well he definately could not find much fish it was just like a soup. as far as were all concerned it was a disaster we paid the bill minus 2 of the mains and left never to return.

“LOS QUATRO GATOS”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

Couldn't agree less with the previous review. This is the kind of menu from which I would usually run like a startled hare, but it was all (with the exception of a poor pear Tatin) highly accomplished from a technical perspective and, more important, delicious. We ate a range of seven or eight savoury dishes, in full and half portions and "edible shots" (their nomenclature) and among the standouts were a beef ragout with chili and chocolate and caramelised onion foam (see what I meant about running a mile? You just wouldn't, would you? But it was stunning) and an extraordinary mango and cucumber gazpacho with yoghurt cream and slightly spicy cockles, itself bettered by a fish soup with the tenderest rings of chipiron and a really hot rouille. Without wittering on, all of the other savoury dishes were also excellent.
Decent wines by the glass (a rarity in Spain, and all ludicrously cheap), very sweet service from a waitress who spoke excellent English - probably a necessity in Vejer - and outstanding value at 73 Euros plus a very well deserved decent tip.
Would also like to throw in a shout for two other unheralded places in Vejer, Meson Pepe Julian - great Retinta steaks cooked properly bloody, almost unheard of in Southern Spain, also very sweet service, and Bar Navarro for ham, pinchos Morunos and fried seafood.

“Delightful Gastronomic Cave”
Reviewed November 4, 2012 via mobile

We booked a table for 2 on Sunday lunchtime having had the restaurant recommended to us by the owners of the place we were staying at (El Sueno). In truth we needn't have booked since there was only one other family there for lunch, but I'm told it is busier in the evenings the rest of the week.

It's a small restaurant, with no outdoor seating but a rear section dug into a 'cave' with exposed rock. Great if you want to get out of the sun for a cool hour or 2.

The menu is very inventive and modern, with a range of 3euro 'edible shots' to wake up your taste buds (try the chocolate beef and chili), beautifully presented salads, and unusual mains. The service was friendly and fast, and we liked the music choices. The teriyaki duck was delicious.

The portion sizes weren't very generous, but the quality of the food and the powerful flavours made up for it and justified the prices which are slightly on the expensive side.

If you're fed up of tapas and paella, and are looking for somewhere out of the ordinary, give Los Quatros a try. It's definitely the best restaurant we ate at in Vejer.

“Mixed dining experience in Vejer.”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

Three of us went - following a recommendation to eat at this bistro.

Mixed opinions. The mango gazpacho was innovative, sweet and tasty with the exception of the seaweed topping that was rubbery and unedible.

The mushroom shoot was average. The crab shoot was OK.

The oxtail risotto was sublime. The four cheese salad was very good and tasty but the only veggie option was not available was disapointing.

Service, whilst friendly, was slow.

Price: not value for money. local ventas just as good.
