“Perfect Relaxation”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

We have just returned from our third visit to this truly special place. The things that make it so very special are the things that I know it holds dear..Unobtrusive, relaxed, calm service, Integrity, & soul are just a few of those things.
Divine bed linen, utterly beatiful reclaimed materials, stunning (& getting better as they mature) gardens, great food both in the hotel & at nearby simple Spanish ventas, great location in the heart of rural Spain yet close to Cadiz, Jerez & Seville for you to be able to visit easily if you can tear yourself away from Casa, 20 minutes from a magnificent stretch of unspoilt beach (El Palmar)
I cried the first time I left (I know! ) but it was that wonderful..This time, I'm just busily planning my next visit. If you lead a busy life & just want to lie down & be looked after, or if you have been touring around & need a cool, calm rest, this is the place.

Room Tip: All the rooms are very beautiful as far as I can see (I've peeked into most) we have stayed in r...

Have just returned from a nine day stay here and it is indeed the most relaxing place in the middle of nowhere. If you are looking to switch off and be looked after (in an unobtrusive way) then this is definitely the place for you. We did get a little lost and had to phone for directions (sat nav and hotel directions not quite the same). All the staff were great, so helpful and friendly - Connie, Julia and Veronica were the names we knew, but everyone was lovely. It was a real treat to stay here; the room was beautiful and the breakfasts, lunches and dinners we had were delicious (and filliing). Free beer tap and fridge in the garden a definite plus too! Vejer (also lovely) is just over a five minute drive away, but if you don't want to drive the hotel will organise a taxi (though taxi's quite expensive). To get the most out of staying here though you really do have to be prepared to totally relax!

We got married at the Casa in June this year and we can't speak highly enough of the whole experience! Lee and Amelia were incredibly helpful when we were planning the wedding and put us in touch with lots of really useful contacts. All the staff at the Casa work so hard to make sure everything is perfect when you stay and they did the same for our wedding, it really couldn't have been any better - it was the perfect location, so beautiful inside and out which made our wedding photos look amazing! Our friends and family loved the wedding as much as we did, so if you are thinking about getting married in Vejer then you should definitely choose Casa La Siesta - truly the perfect wedding venue.

We spent just 1 night in this awesome place last september, just sitting and relaxing in the patio after a long trip around the area. Each room has its own terrace, breakfast is served outside the room's door. Clean room, furnished with good "rural" taste. We will come back and suggest this place to everyone we know. Good luck and keep up the good work! See you soon!

The owners have created a very special place, with reclaimed materials, from ancient beams to classic Andalusian tiles The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and the location peaceful.
This characterful rural retreat offers guests home cooked meals made from ingredients grown in the garden or sourced locally from producers and farmers markets; so a break here is more than just an escape, it’s a chance to discover new flavours and traditional recipes with a modern twist.
The guest rooms are individually and creatively decorated, with a mix of contemporary comforts like roll top baths, rain forest showers and king size beds, together with authentic features and antiques.
It is worth knowing that sometimes throughout the year the owners live on site in a annexe and their pets are often roaming around the property.

Room Tip: The guest suite at the front offeres great views, but overlooks a neighbours small holding with hens...

I agree with an earlier posting that this place is easy to find. After about two miles along the road to Medina Sidonia from Vejer de la Frontera, turn left at the big sign marked "Los Parralejos" Drive a couple of miles down a rural lane, avoid probable loose cows, chickens and goats and then turn at the sign marked "Casa La Siesta" Not difficult.

Through the security gates and park under the covered parking bays and then say hello to whoever is around to greet you. In our case, it was a very civilised young lady called Veronica who led us to an attractive sandy-coloured two-storey ranch-style establishment

External appearances from all sides were very pleasing. There is a very pretty breakfast area at the front by some attractive formal gardens, and a scenic terrace and courtyard to the rear with marvellous country views and a perfect spot to admire the sunset in the evening. Inside, the main building is country-house style with a comfortable lounge area and a cracking kitchen.

Unfortunately, during the course of e-mailed booking negotiations we somehow failed to get the room were expecting, but I thought our suite was a perfectly adequate substitute. The misunderstanding was reasonably explained by Veronica, and there were no hard feelings.

We had a big, handsome, airy, high-beamed room with plenty of space and featuring a free-standing bath and an open-windowed, tall-chimneyed stove. The great big bed was supremely comfortable, especially due to the quality linen, and it had great sleep potential. Reclaimed doors and brick floors were agreeably attractive but the other bits of furniture were certainly very distressed, and the sofa was practically suicidal - I've seen better examples fly-tipped down English country lanes. Air-conditioning was fine and easy to operate. Way across from the bed was the cloakroom area with separate double free-standing sink bowls on a wooden bench top. The accompanying nozzle-free hairdryer was a particularly feeble specimen . Adjacently, was a large open shower with a very effective rain-head fitting on one side and a small loo on the other. Mrs EPR appreciated the giant fluffy bath towels made available each day

We also enjoyed the i-pod docking station opportunity, and appreciated the evening turn-down service and the countless free bottles of water that were left for us afterwards . Regrettably, noisy murine incursions via the stove flue over a couple of evenings meant we had spend the night next door on one occasion (our room was better!) . Although initially rectified , a second blighter was staring at us through the stove window the next evening and was subsequently and dutifully bludgeoned triumphantly to death so we could spend our final night in peace.

The swimming pool and landscaped environs (surrounded by fields populated by either horses or cows) were extremely peaceful, with ample comfortable sunbeds and mattresses, and we didn't mind sharing with a friendly tabby who clearly liked to stretch out full-length and enjoy a relaxing afternoon with his new human friends.

Mealwise, breakfasts were adequate but probably aligned to the small number of guests in situ. However, we ate a couple of meals in the evening in the large attractive rear courtyard and must give a glowing commendation to the young chef because he turned out restaurant-standard meals which, in both cases, were absolutely superb in appearance and in quality. We also appreciated the help of another young lady, Julia, who was very knowledgeable about accompanying local wines and managed the dining activities perfectly. She was sometimes assisted by a very sweet and willing young Spanish girl who seemed to be the evening general helper

The ubiquitous gratis beer dispenser, positioned just off the rear courtyard, was of the Amstel variety and seemed very popular, and not abused. It was an unusual concession and, again, much-appreciated. Mrs EPR noted that non-beer swilling ladies were not equally supplied however - freebie soft drinks only, I'm afraid.,

Vejer de la Frontera was about 10 minutes drive away and we discovered it to be a beautiful and lively white hillside town with ample parking and a friendly adjacent tourist information office. It was also relatively free of the ex-pat fraternity found further along the eastern coast. Plenty of restaurants and local colour. Cadiz was a good day out too, with plenty of parking round the harbour area.

So, in conclusion we quite enjoyed our stay and certainly wouldn't deter any potential visitors -quite the reverse, in fact. Whilst we may have had a couple of wrinkles during our visit, I would be happy to recommend the Casa La Siesta because, in essence, it was potentially perfect

It is fair to say that the measure of a great hotel is in the small details- at least that is the measure by which I judge the hotels I stay in.
Having worked in the hotel industry for many years & extensively travelled the globe staying in many high end hotels I would measure Casa La Siesta amongst my top 5.

This is not only for it's peaceful location, fantastic decor, attentive staff & phenomenal food- it is for the details. It is because when we came home at night our bed had been turned down (a practise which many high end hotels have conveniently forgotten about), the candles lit in the halls & rooms, & a bottle of cool water was placed on each side of the bed. Details.
It is because of one day when I sat baking by the pool one of the female staff (after spying me there 10 minutes prior) arrived with a lovely mocktail of pink grapefruit & orange juice with fresh mint & ginger ale. Refreshing. But what was more refreshing is that the staff member saw me baking by the pool & thought to herself "she looks like she'd enjoy a cool drink"...That represents the attitude of the hotel & it's staff & it's something to cherish.

I should also make special mention of the cuisine at the hotel. Breakfast, lunch & dinner were flawless. Flawless. Not a word I use often or lightly. It was as though a team of Spanish grandmothers were outback preparing the most delicous, heart warming, nostaligic Spanish feast at each service. The food was phenomenal.

I would highly recommend Casa La Siesta- with a disclaimer.*
*Don't stay here if when you are in Madrid you choose to stay at the Hilton or Sheraton. Casa La Siesta is in a league of it's own not for the tourist who is looking for a bell boy, a porter & a concierge..Stay here if you are happy to be greeted as friends as 'guests' not as 'clients'.

We thank the staff for our wonderful stay & the attentive yet unobtrusive service they provided us.

Room Tip: All the rooms we peaked in were stunning.
