We stayed two nights at hotel V and it has been a great stay. The personell is very friendly and we had an overall great time. They told us a lot about the city and the hotel itself, they helped us with finding the hotel and they also gave us good advice as for where to eat out. So the staff has been very helpful over our stay. Breakfast is as well very nice. The hotel is in the very center of the old town so perfectly situated. We would book it again.

Me , my husband and 3 month old son were making a weekend trip to Vejer. Since our son is really small, we wanted to stay at a good hotel. Hotel V's photographs and pricing indicated that it was a good hotel. Well, here's the problem:
- Its a 10 minute really steep and uphill walk from where you park the car
- Given the amount they charge, you'd expect a bell boy or porter to come and help you with your luggage. No such luck! In fact, our room was a couple of floors above and we needed to carry our luggage ourselves
- No restaurant in the hotel. So if you want to grab a bite , you trek down and back to the square ( where you parked your car)
- There are much better hotels available at lower costs e.g. Hotel Califa ( has an awesome restaurant as well)
- The jacuzzi wasn't working
- Net net - they charged us high season prices and gave us low season amenities

The hotel itself is very well-designed and a lot of thought has gone in to make this a nice hotel. But the amenities, or lack of it, don't warrant the high price they charge.

My verdict - Not worth the amount you pay

Dear Kamayani,

We certainly appreciate you taking the time to comment on your recent visit with us at Hotel V… and want to thank you for choosing to stay with us during your weekend trip to Vejer.

So sorry to hear that you had a difficult time walking up the hill to reach the hotel. The ancient streets can indeed be quite steep, that is why our confirmation letter recommends that guests park in the village car park and then phone the hotel so that we can send a cab to pick you up and deliver you directly to the hotel. It’s a pity you didn’t take advantage of this service.

Addressing your comment of the bag assistance, or lack thereof, because we are a boutique hotel, our staff is small with no bell boys or porters on hand. Depending on who was at reception when you checked in, not all staff members are capable of assisting with the luggage. We apologize if this caused you any inconvenience.

The village of Vejer is brimming with amazing restaurants which many of our guests find to be one of the best reasons to visit. There are a few restaurants down in the village square but there are also several that are literally only steps outside our front door that could have been an alternative to walking down to the plaza. There is a delicious fresh Andalusian breakfast offered at the hotel but for dinner, most guests enjoy discovering the various restaurants that Vejer is fast becoming known for.

On behalf of Hotel V..., I regret that your experience with us was less than perfect. Thank you again for your time and I wish you the best in your future travels.

Kind Regards,

Elise, V… Guest Relations Manager

On arrival we were upgraded to the best room with a terrace and lovely view. That made up for the long walk with luggage from a car park at the bottom of the steps and hill. Be warned this hotel is at the top of the town that's on the top of a hill. Travel light! The blend of old and new and the simple design features rank this luxury boutique hotel high in my view. The bed was one if the most comfortable I have slept in and the room was a decent size and very nice. What sets the place aside from many others is the astoundingly good service. True you are left to your own devices much of the time but have free reign of the place to help yourself to drinks when the 2 managers are not around. Overall a stunner in one of the most beautiful places I have seen. Will definitely come again. When I can afford it!

If you want an understated, informal, cool, chic and different "home from home" concept, then you will enjoy Hotel V. Situated in the deafeningly quiet back streets of Verja de la Frontera (midway between Gibraltar and Cadiz) an historic picturesque hill town with narrow cobbled streets. No car parking so be ready for a short hike (not suitable for disabled) to the hotel.
Whilst the hotel does not have a restaurant there are good ones nearby, including Jardin de Califa which is an excellent Moroccan. Breakfast is a collective affair served on trays with the other guests around low coffee tables in the salon. Roof terrace, architecture and honesty bar all very cool but dont expect room service or reception after 9pm in the winter. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Extremely comfortable and about as refreshingly un-stuffy and relaxed as it gets.

We were very off season and the only people staying in this small hotel but we loved every bit of it. Wonderful, tastefully decorated rooms, helpful and friendly but unobtrusive staff and a restful atmosphere. The breakfast is simple but delicious and overall, we heartily recommend this gem of a hotel.

I can highly reccomend this small and personal hotel. All rooms are spacious, very nicely designed, have exclusive bed linen and furniture. Some have a bath tub as one of the centerpieces in the room. Great breakfast. Many opportunities for excursions in the area, including beaches, horse riding and walks.

Room Tip: Do not choose the room above the reception, there are nicer and more spacious ones.

We wanted to stay somewhere special for New Years Eve 2012 and we weren't disappointed. The rooms are stunning, modern and very clean. The hospitality of the woman running the hotel was warm and friendly. As they don't have a restaurant we were worried about where we would eat, but after emailing the hotel, they spoke to a restaurant they knew was open and booked a table for us. When we got back from dinner there was a bottle of Cava and a friendly note wishing us a Happy New Year in own room, which was a lovely surprise.

Even though they don't have a restaurant they do serve you a lovely big Spanish breakfast if you request it. This is extra, but not too expensive and worth it.

The views from the roof are amazing....

... Bit pricey for a week there, but for one special night it was perfect.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that doesn't overlook the reception area, it's a little noisy as they alway h...
