Description: Vejer's most popular restaurant has stone vaulted dining rooms and a lush palm-filled courtyard set in an emblematic 16th century building. 'The Caliph's Garden' is one of Andalucia's prime eating destinations. You will be served fabulous North African & Middle Eastern food in a historic, tranquil & unsurpassed setting in the heart of Vejer's medieval quarter. Overlooking the palm filled square of the medieval quarter the Jardín del Califa is inspired by the Moorish rule of Vejer over 700 years ago. The Jardin del Califa is set in one of Vejer's most important historic buildings. The principal building dates from 1527 (and includes parts from the 11th Century) and is now a grade 1 listed monument. The stone clad dining rooms and the palm filled courtyard are the perfect company for your meal with us. Come to the Califa and you will enjoy tasty dishes, stone vaulted cellars, an enchanted garden, a splashing fountain and scented plants. The haven of this quiet corner in the heart of Vejer will provide you with many memorable moments.

It's difficult to keep everybody happy all the time especially when this is not only Vejer's most popular restaurant but possibly one of the most consistently busy restaurants in the province. Unfortunately the demand for tables is so high sometimes it is extremely difficult for our staff to manage the sheer weight of customers coming through the door asking for tables as well as the reservations. Right now we are fully booked until the 23rd. August. If you are here later in the year then I hope we can give you a better experience. Feel free to contact me personally via the reception of Hotel la Casa del Califa if you have any further comments. Hasta pronto!

From a typical Spanish piazza with fountain in the middle there is the Califa Hotel and adjoining it is El Jardin del Califa... a wonderful Moroccan restaurant set in a 15thC building with a beautiful courtyard dining room. The food was delicious and not too pricey. The waitress started off a bit surly, but soon warmed to us as we chatted with her and had a laugh. We soon understood why she gave us her initial attitude as the restaurant is pretty big and they have two sittings per lunch and dinner every day... and she was exhausted. If you are in the area... well worth a visit.

The Jardin is a beautiful setting and the food is undoubtedly some of the very best in Vejer. Try the roasted vegetables or any of the brochettes and you won't be disappointed. The mezze plate, however, has gone downhill in presentation and flavor in the last couple years. The tajines are also very good. On the other hand, don't go the the Jardin del Califa wipthout a hefty dose of patience. For some inexplicable reason, the staff will ignore you from the outset. We arrived on time for our reservation and waited five minutes at the sign in desk while waiters and the barman attended to their duties in front of us without a single one of them even so much as proffering a greeting. For a successful hotel and a kitchen with such good food, the surly service is bizarre

It is very nice restaurant with an excellent outside area, you have to reserve a table weeks in advance to get a table in there. To me it looked like there many regular customers with there own table! Anyhow the food was great and the inside is also worth dining in, it is not cheap, we spend 64 euro for 2 including wine.
