Set meals, very traditional and genuine Cuban (the banana dish served in a folded up banana leaf was really delicious)

Friendly very enthusiastic owner.

Prompt service.

When we were there there was a large party of Danes and other nationalities. The owner had devised some games after dinner had been eaten and we were encouraged to join in. Great fun! The best was when we had to sit in a chair, lean back and open our mouths. Fresh sugar cane juice was squeezed into our mouths at the same time as some cuban rum. Hilarious.

As we were leaving the owner presented us with a present of two balls of the famous Baracoan pure cocoa.

A great night. You MUST visit when in Baracoa

As a large group we visited O Poeta (called 'El Poeta' on their business card) and were immediately immersed in the atmosphere and welcomed as long lost friends. The banquet served covered everything I could imagine in Cuban food, from Congri to Lobster!! Each cooked perfectly and served with an appropriate Cuban cocktail. We were drowned while trying the traditional Cuban game of drinking rum and squeezed sugar cane at the same time but didn't mind at all. If they happen to have a band playing at the same time (we took our own) then this will be a meal never to be forgotten. Baracoa is supposed to have the best variety of food outside Havana and O Poeta confirms this

Unfortunately not cited in the Lonely Planet guide, I strongly recommend this paladar (that is a private restaurant). You can taste typical baracoa food and some nice surprises are included. Food is very good, service nice, and it is a little bit cheaper than other paladar in Baracoa. Located behind the church, casa de la trova is just a few steps far. My boyfriend and I were here in january 2013.

The selection, taste was one of the best that i had in 10 days in Cuba. The owner is very accommodating, if you under Spanish, his stories tell many tails.
