It`s a cozy place with pleasant interior and very welcome staff. Enjoyed a family dinner there a week ago and it was an amazing experience. In the menu you have a variety of dishes from reindeer meet, we tried three of them and they all were great. On the whole choice of dishes is quite big, they also offer half-portions for children.
They have their own vodka called Crazy reindeer and several types of berry liquors (cloudberry, bilberry etc.), which were very delicious, and great dessets, such as cranberry with hot caramel or cloudberry sorbet. Everything we tried was really tasty, and the prices are reasonable.
Definitely worth visiting, try it, and you won`t regret)

This year our family went to Levi for the Christmas holiday. The whole week was very pleasant, and the Ämmilä restaurant was one of the highlights of our stay. This was the second time we visited this restaurant this year. Interior is in the style of an updated farmhouse or guesthouse (Gasthaus). Waiters are dressed in traditional-looking approns etc.
Food is what you expect to get in a place looking like that - in a good way. Steaks, including raindeer - of course, local fish, and then some more slavic touches like blinis with fish roe. In our party of seven, we had steaks (cooked exactly to the desired 'medium minus'), fried small fish (vendace) with potatoe butter mash (really excellent because the fish had virtually no batter on them), raindeer hotchpotch (was really delicious) and raindeers fry platters with potatoe mash and lingonberry (really tasty, because of the juicy meat). It was not just the food or interior, but most of all, it was our waiter who made the evening feel so special. He was friendly, attentive and had excellent, witty humour. Great place to go with family!

Went here on our last night with my wife and son. I had the peppered fillet which was the most tender I have ever experienced, and the sauce was delicious. My wife had the fillet and smoked reindeer which she said was amazing.
The only downpoint of the restaurant I would say was the lack of childrens menu. They could get half portions of any adult dish at half price. The only thing my son seemed half way into was the reindeer meatballs, thankfully he wasnt younger or he wouldnt have ate anything. He did eat them although he didnt said the creamy game sauce was too strong.
Had the cloudberry sorbet for dessert which was lovely, wife had hte pancakes, not like ours but she said they were beautiful.

My daughter got married in lapland and we were looking for a special restaurant to celebrate in and after speaking to the locals we decided on this venue.
We made the right decison to chose the Ammila. It is a lovely old fashioned place and very welcoming. The menu is al a carte with a good selection on the menu. The best dish on the menu is he reindeer fillet cooked medium rare. The meat is so tender that it mealts in your mouth. We had a 3 course meal for 5 people with drinks came to a very reasonable 238 euros. The only down side with this restaurant is that it is so far from home as I would eat here all the time.
